Marpunta Resort Alonnisos

This is my second visit to this amazing resort, and my husband and I were not disappointed. If anything, it was even better than last year. The hotel is clean, quirky and vibrant . It has modern aspects alongside traditional Greek values. The staff are superb. Nothing is ever too much trouble and the eagerness to fulfil your holiday wishes is ever present. From the delightfully chatty and smiley Adriana on the reception, to the hard-working Dimitris and Nikos on the Pool bar, the cleaners, restaurant staff and everyone around were always there to help. The restaurants had a vast array of superb food, my particular favourites were the moussaka, followed by the most delicious baklava. Truly exquisite. The excellent hotel shuttle bus helped us to venture out to the Old Town and Patitiri and the Amani 180 Spa came and collected us from resort. All of this made for a superb holiday experience . So if you’re looking for a relaxing, tranquil, aromatic holiday in truly stunning surroundings with clean ocean waters, I highly recommend this hotel. Just back from a week staying here and it's a great place but few things to know... POSITIVES -The closeness of the pool and the beach is amazing -you don't have to be up early for a sunbed and if your not using the bed they clear it ready for the next person -The rooms and hotel in general is very clean. -They have a few amazing members of staff. NEGATIVES/TIPS -"The Hill" is a monster so if you have mobility issues I would not consider here.. There is the option of a buggie but there are hills and steps to get to all areas of the hotel. -Pool closes at 7pm- in July the sun is still out till 9.. It would be nice to be able to be out in the sunshine a little longer. -Evening buffet is from 7-9, so that's why everyone leaves the pool around 6.. Its a very short amount of time for evening sitting.. And they really want you out of there by 9pm. -The other restaurant is open till much later but this is not part of your half board (well we were told it was but then when we went was told it wasn't!) and is overpriced. -communication is very hit and miss. -Bar was way overpriced... For a €12 Aperol you would expect a huge goblet of a drink, but it was a small glass of wine size.. Also if your going to charge €3.50 for a can of coke, don't give me a call with 65c on it and a warning that it should not be split from a multi pack. -Bring your own entertainment, there is nothing in the evening, that's not a bad thing. -I would also recommend getting the free bus to the town and back to stock up on booze, treats etc as you will save yourselves a fortune. There is no shop on site so you need to head out.. Generally a great place, but as I say there were some things we wish we knew before we went.

We stayed here for 6 nights of our honeymoon in Alonissos, We had a sea view room which I highly recommend as amazing sitting on balcony having a coffee in morning enjoying the view. The rooms were decorated in cool colours and we had a modern lovely bathroom with great shower . The rooms are up a slight hill so if you have mobility problems could be issues walking but the hotel offers golf buggies up the hill if you need them and find in hard especially in the heat of the day . Staff were very friendly and we particularly loved Dora at reception and lovely girl she was training who had exceptional people skills ( Adriana) I hope that’s how you spell it ! They went out of their way to make your stay memorable Breakfast was excellent and fabulous choice of items and what we had most days an omelette station cook to order . The reception staff were excellent at ordering our taxis every night to the old town , which is a must to see for the views and fabulous restaurants and the taxi service on the island spiros taxis George who picked us up most nights was a real character and made journeys fun and knowledgeable. The hotel was beautiful classic Greek , immaculately clean with amazing pool area , great sun-beds , 2 beaches if you wish and a great pool side restaurant. Overall our honeymoon was memorable and we would highly recommend this hotel for a real chill out holiday .

What makes a great hotel? Buildings ? Location ?? Food ??? Yes yes and yes but what is essential is a great team. Marpunta is a 4* hotel with a 5* team! We had a long journey to get there with some difficulties ( not hotels issue) but were delighted to find when arrived that running front of house was Isidoros. We had previously met him at a great hotel on Kos. We are lucky enough to travel a great deal for pleasure and business and stayed in some fabulous hotel. Isidoros has to rank as one of the very best front of house hosts - truly world class!! Knowledgable, friendly, lovely relaxed but highly professional style. The rest of the team were also superb with Theodora and Joe helping us out big time when we had significant travel difficulties. THANKS Also worth a mention young Nikos working the pool cafe. Great sense of humour and good service. The location is great - it lives up to its 4* rating as a hotel BUT it’s made 5*+ by the team. So great value Well worth the stay and if you come across Isidoros in your hotel - count yourself lucky - a class act!!

Came here in May 2023 , the start of their opening season and my partner 70th birthday. We've chosen this location and resort after visiting Skopelos a few times previous and decided to have a change. Well this place was amazing I could not fault the chosen location. Every aspect of the hotel was first class the rooms , the beaches , the restaurant and the beauty of the place and of course the staff of Marpunta Resort. 2024 is our 25th anniversary together, we decided to celebrate our special anniversary at Marpunta resort again..

Beautiful hotel in lovely position with great private beach and pool area Staff exceptionally friendly and helpful especially Joe in reception Breakfast and evening meals very good and lots of choices Only tiny thing for me is would prefer kettle or water boiler for morning tea as water not very hot in jus at breakfast

What a little gem of a place. So glad we chose Marpunta Resort. We just needed somewhere to chill and recharge our batteries. The place is spotlessly clean, and all the rooms are arranged in the style of a typical Greek Island village. Our room has two balconies, one looking out to the beautiful Aegean. The other overlooking a square (which puts us in mind of a few scenes in that TV Drama - novel adaptation- 'His Dark Materials' where the main characters find themselves in a village occupied by children). The staff here are very accommodating, from the reception staff, Stelios and his lovely colleagues, and Isidoros and his restaurant team. The food here is great. Working our way through the a la carte menu in the evenings. There's a super buffet breakfast that lacks nothing. The scenery is stunning in every direction and the best thing of all... it's quiet! We'll be coming back.

After arriving into Skiathos airport and a welcome from a driver from another resort in this group, we were, as arranged driven to the port for our 1.25hrs ferry crossing. We had a very leisurely lunch (see separate review) and waited for our 4.30pm departure time. We arrived at the ferry at 4.15, boarded and waited……we eventually left at 5.05pm and after 10 mins trip, the captain, said ‘ sorry have to turn back’ for two late passengers!. There was also a drop off at Skopolos, that we were unaware of and so eventually we arrived at Patitriri port in twilight after a very long, delayed and rough crossing. A member of the Marpunta team were waiting patiently for us and took us to the resort (approx 7 minutes). A pleasant welcome from reception, who informed us that the buffet restaurant was now closed (12th September) so only the al a carte was available. Also the swimming pool was still out of action due to the hurricane. This was only unavailable for another day. We were escorted by Dimitrios to our deluxe junior suite and shown around. Please note that there are only two small drawers and restricted hanging space (short dresses even dragged on the base!) not ideal. The air on could be better, but otherwise a lovely room. Dinner was included with our booking and also wine or beer or soft drinks but only 1/2 litre per table. The house red was pleasant. The food at the Al a Carte restaurant was in the main very good. The hotel apparently only had 30% capacity, so this meant usually there wasn’t an issue with sun beds. But the hotel had closed some areas. Lunch in the pool bar with Nicos was very good. He was efficient and pleasant. We had a pre dinner drink each evening and were welcomed and looked after by Dimitrios very well. Breakfast was a buffet style and was attended by the same staff from the A la Carte. There was a fairly wide choice of items, both cold and hot, with an omelette station too. The general coffee was ok, but latte, cappuccino etc was available to order, this just needed to be a bit hotter. Part of the attraction of staying at Marpunta was that on their website they stated that SUP’s and canoes were available. On checking at reception we were informed that in 2022 they had been banned and so unavailable. Wonder why their website hasn’t been updated a year later? Adriana at reception was very helpful and friendly. The staff as a whole, were mainly friendly and helpful. We walked twice from the resort to a different beach and also to Patitiri , which was good to do, as the resort is very quiet. The hotel booked 6 of us onto the Blue Dolphin hydrofoil at 0630. We were taken to the port and boarded. We left on time and after 30 minutes an announcement was made that it had engine trouble and we had to turn back…..this was a huge problem as the next ferry was midday and too late for both flights. WOW, this hotel is everything it says it is. Sea views everywhere. If you are looking for peace and tranquility this is for you. Set in the peninsula you have sea views all around you. The food was of very high quality. The staff couldn’t have done enough for you, whether front of desk, pool bar attendants, restaurant staff, room assistants. Each and everyone of them played their part. There are a few treks around. The old village at the top of the hill has amazing views out to sea. Two private beaches (pebbly). There are a couple of other beaches on foot if you want to explore. MARPUNTA.. you were great, we couldn’t have asked for anything more. Thank you Louise and Steve
