The location and service were perfect. The room was also nice, but our shower room was barely able to drain the water, meaning it flooded almost immediately. Besides that everything was great.

Beautiful old hotel on the water. I had a great sea view. The breakfast is fine but the roof top location of the restaurant and bar is great! The rooms are maybe a bit smaller than other places, but plenty for two of us and it is quite old and historic so one must understand. It’s got old decor, style, and elevator, but the bathroom, TV, and other amenities are modern and working well. I found the bed, pillows and linens to be clean and comfortable. Location is convenient- near shops, street food, other hotels with their bars and restaurants. Right between the library and the fort. You can see both from the rooftop restaurant or room balcony. About a 20 minute to walk to the library, 30-45 to the fort.

The room photograph and description (1st floor 28 square metres) did not match the actual room allocated (4th floor. 18 square metre).. This is illegal in many countries, but apparently not for this hotel. The duty manager of the day was prepared to allocate a better room, but only at an extra charge. I was not happy with this so did not pay extra.
Breakfast was pleasant. Lovely view. Attentive waiting staff.
Location excellent.
The windows of the hotel ground floor facing the sea were disgraceful. Peeling paint Abandoned empty decorating containers, food waste. Lazy maintainance and lack of pride. Clearly nobody is checking or following up.
This could be a great hotel, but is a
now a reminder of indifference and apathy.
The check out manager was more helpful and offered an upgrade should I visit again. However both parties know that is unlikely. I filled in the hotel questionnaire recording these issues. I hope it gets to the right person.
The attached photograph shows the much nicer room and embellished description in the advert.
Clearly all photos and measurements need to be updated so they actually match the rooms that are being sold. Since I expressed my concerns on 20 march 2023, there has been no update.

The toilet didn’t have water, I was told the plumbing hadn’t been turned on in my part of the building. When it did come on, the toilet became a water monster and spewed water from the bowl in a jet-stream which I hilariously contained by smashing the lid down (but not before being soaked in the process). It flooded the bathroom before I got to the shut off valve. When I came back from dinner it was cleaned up and working fine.
My laundry was returned to me in the evening because there ‘was no water in the city’ for the laundry services to clean them for me before I left the next day.
Strange water issues, but the room and location were otherwise ok. Wait… there’s a karaoke bar on the floor I was on and I asked to be moved to a different room finally and they turned the music down after that, a bit annoying to have to ask for quiet at night.

The whole of our stay was of a very good standard. The hotel is in the heart of the old town and at a perfect distance from places to visit. The staff is charming entirely at your service and even makes as much effort as they can in your native language to satisfy you. The notoriety of the establishment is not usurped, and we enjoyed a moment of comfort and service up to our expectations.... But.... Two things urgently deserve to be improved: the menu of the restaurant is not worthy of a 4 star: food too greasy, too ordinnaire ... And the lack of soundproofing of the sea view windows is bad for a perfect night.
I would allow myself a secondary remark, from a decorative point of view, the atmosphere of the place sometimes lacks coherence ... But this hotel is a pleasure for good holidays in this beautiful city.
