Hotel Ivory Playa Sports & Spa

This hotel is brilliant, they have a back entrance to the beach a 2 min walk. The hotel is spotless, the cleaners clean the pool every morning, all the staff we encountered were all lovely the entertainment team were the best we've seen! There was no reserving sun beds we went to the pool around 1130 one day and there were so many beds still available, the port is about 5 minutes in a taxi the old town 10 minutes. The only downside was the hotel only offer 1 bedroom apartments while the room was fine for us we did feel we would have benefited from a bigger room, we would love to come back but the room would probably stop us, as a family of 4. Everything else is amazing!

We booked a 1 bedroom 'apartment' with balcony which overlooked the sea. We did have a huge tree blocking alot of the view, but we could still see the Mediterranean. Our room was basic, but clean and had everything we needed. A small kitchen area with fridge and a small amount of cooking facilities. The hotel staff are wonderful, the reception team and house cleaning staff were all excellent. The beach is very close by and is wonderfully kept. Across the road is a small supermarket, which we used to stock up on tasty Spanish cheeses, ham, bread and other treats. We stayed last October and I totally forgot to wright a review. Its alittle late to wright one, but we enjoyed ourselves here. We booked through LoveHolidays and they mostly provide competitive prices.

Family holiday - May half-term 2024. I’m so glad we booked this hotel. We loved it!!! And firstly want to thank all of the wonderful team of people working there from the bottom of my heart - you all really seem like one big happy family and you made US feel like part of the family too!! To the entertainers - Jodi, Chispey (José), Valentina, Robin - Our kids totally adore you all. They haven’t stopped talking about you. They loved their arm face-paints, making bracelets, colouring-in, playing games with you in the pool - and wow they loved the paddle boards!!!! You make everything very enjoyable. You are all absolutely delightful honestly. The 8:30pm kids discos are actually adorable and not something our kids would normally love. But wow they LOVED your discos. The music isn’t too loud and the songs are fun and the dance-moves are fun (we are determined to get the hang of them!). The sandy play area is really nice too. And the pools are beautiful. The waitresses / waiters are utterly fabulous too - so accommodating and kind and friendly. There is a waitress called Christina. She is so lovely and helpful and so hard-working, we appreciated all that she did. All the bar staff / waiters at the bar by the pool are great! We ate at the poolside bar for lunch a lot. It is really great - and we did wish it was open a bit later into the evening as it was perfect for us and we would have had dinner there too. The cleaners never seem to stop either and are always friendly and accommodating. We really appreciated the cleaning in our room and the towels and beds being made. :) We loved the view from our room - you could see the mountains in the distance. The reception area is really lovely - and all the staff working behind the desk are friendly and helpful. Our toddler now says “hola” more than hello! :) The hotel is a great location. The beaches around the hotel are really beautiful. Clear blue sea and mountains in the distance. You can even get onto the beach through a little wood with beautiful trees. Or you can avoid the trees if you want to and access the beach just 3 mins walk from the hotel. Opposite the hotel is a beautiful lake! You can just cross over the road and go exploring over there with a backdrop of enchanting mountains. Really magical. It’s easy to get the bus in and out of the main town although bear in mind the bus is very crowded at certain times of the day. The Alcudia harbour is so beautiful. We ate at the hotel buffet for dinner twice and the breakfast buffet once. The food was just lovely!! Spoilt for choice - and a big shout out to the amazing lady at breakfast who was doing the pancakes / omelettes / french toast ready to serve on the fryer. Most impressive and the pancakes really were delicious! My one criticism (and this is not really a reflection on the hotel itself - but more on one guest!!) is that a lady was smoking on the grounds around the pool area and tapping the ash into the bins. Great hotel - all staff were very friendly and it was kept very clean throughout. The children loved the entertainment (kids club in the morning, afternoon and evening disco). Late March so it was not full - mostly German families and a lots of cyclists so it cleared out during the day. 2 decent sized pools but only the one heated one was warm enough. We stayed in a garden room which meant the children could play outside in full view - well worth the extra cost. Loads of food options for breakfast and dinner - including veggie options. Not top quality food but fine for a 3 star hotel. Easy bus ride to the centre and several car rentals within walking distance. Beach is 50 metres away and is great for families. Thoroughly recommend.

Excellent staff throughout the hotel. Slight issue with our room on arrival but this was rectified by staff by moving us to a new room. Pool area was lovely. Food at pool bar was nice. Bus service to port was efficient, alternatively it was a gentle walk taking about 25 mins.

The Ivory is a great option in Alcudia. Close to a beautiful long beach, great pools and spa. The room was in great condition. Could not ask for more

This hotel surpassed our expectations. It’s location is brilliant. 5 mins from the beach, supermarket across the road, 5 mins from the nearest bus stop, which makes it really easy to explore the area as the buses are frequent and easy to use by tapping on and off with your card (cheaper than paying cash) just don’t try to use the buses at peak times (Sunday and Tuesday being the worst days) it gets so busy that the buses don’t stop due to too many passengers. We did manage to get the bus on a Sunday however to the market in Alcudia old town and it was well worth it, I’d advise you to get up as early as possible and don’t leave the old town at lunch time. The rooms were spacious, clean and equipped with everything we needed also the cleaners were really good. We we’re a little disappointed that we’d payed extra for a sea view but ended up with a palm tree view instead but it didn’t spoil the holiday. The gym is a lot smaller than it appears in the pictures and you need to book into it at reception. The pools were excellent. Very clean and a good temperature. The staff at the pool bar were fantastic, they came round to check if you needed drinks which is something we haven’t had at some 5 star resorts we’ve stayed at! The same on a night time too. Bar staff and animation staff worked so hard in this hotel and it really did make a difference and the reception staff were very professional and friendly. The food at the pool bar was really nice but can’t comment on the restaurant as we didn’t eat there. You can hire towels from reception for the pool or beach if you don’t want to take your own. The entertainment was some of the best we’ve seen at any hotel we stayed at except one band called Havana which seemed to just be there for a joke, but the Tina Turner tribute was one of the best tributes I’ve seen for a long time. Overall I was really impressed with this hotel, it was far better than we had expected it to be and we had a lovely holiday.

Fantastic hotel with great facilities. Pool area nice with very approachable and helpful staff. Good entertainment during the day and night. Rooms are spacious and well equipped (sofa beds were extremely comfortable for the children) ,nice big bathroom with a huge shower, small and well equipped kitchen area very practical, good size balcony with table and chairs. Only ate a couple of times in the hotel and food was fine. Very close to the beach. My only negative would be a little walk 5-10 minutes from the restaurants. Would definitely recommend and return to the Ivory playa!

A mixed review of this hotel. Great for families, not so great for couples. Good bits were nice swimming pools which were warm, nice bar area and able to eat outside, friendly staff, good entertainment by the in house team during the day, close to the beach and bus ride or walk along the sand to Port d’Alcudia. Taxi ride home was 9 euros but on final night one of them tried to charge 11 euros - needless to say we gave him 10 euros having advised previous charge all week. Not so good was the experience we had with getting a sun bed around the pool - towels, rubber rings, arm bands all reserving beds, lifeguard not helpful and at one stage was asleep by the poolside for about 30 mins. Complained to reception about reserving beds when clearly signs say not too, they agreed not acceptable and manager would speak to us but no contact made during our stay. We accept sun beds are often an issue but Ivory Playa - you need more of them! The hotel was noisy at night as well with room doors needing to be slammed shut. Eco flush not working and in the late afternoon room smelt of drains. Ate one day at the hotel - it was ok but not worth the additional cost. The notice by the pool had many ‘do nots’ but no notice was taken - no inflatables - lots of weird and wonderful inflatables in the pool - one day a full sized kayak and another day a stand up paddle board! No balls - at least 3 ball games in each pool making it difficult to enjoy the pool having to dodge them. No reserving sun beds - already mentioned but often saw people at the beach who then returned to the hotel in the afternoon having put towels on sun beds for 4-5 hours in the morning. No one to go in the pool if they have infectious disease - let’s not even go there! Finally I would say great for families who want a lovely pool for their kids who can glide around on inflatables and throw balls to each other. If you’re a couple then I would probably go for adults only - we thought we would try a non-adult hotel with it being school term time but most of children were school age. Sadly not a hotel we will return to.
