"We stayed in the DoubleTree Hilton Addis Ababa as part of a two-day layover. A hotel shuttle bus transferred us from the airport, which took around five minutes, so very convenient. (We were expecting a hotel rep to greet us at the arrivals hall, but you need to exit the airport, go to the car park and find the bus.) The hotel is in a brightly-lit location; it's nice, clean and modern. The service is excellent: we received a warm reception and checked in swiftly - important if you're arriving late at night. The service at breakfast and elsewhere was equally excellent. Thank you! Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed but we ordered room service, which was OK. The room facilities are very good: comfy bed/pillows and a good selection of amenities. The biggest issue is the shower: there was no hot water, so we had to ring for help. Someone came quickly, but it wasn't ideal especially as it was very late. The same thing happened throughout the rest of the stay. Also, the water from the shower overflowed onto the floor and, unless stopped with a towel, continued through into the room. Given that this is a 4/5-star hotel, this isn't acceptable. If the DoubleTree could resolve this, it would be the hotel of choice."

"The hotel is located on a random street full of noise and chaos, as there is a discotheque next to the hotel for parties and popular events, and there is no insulation in the hotel, which leads to the sound of drums that causes disturbance and discomfort during sleeping times, as well as the smell of cooking inhabits the room as if the kitchen is inside the room, the onion mash and the smell of oil with all kinds of frying, which causes shortness of breath and also makes the smell of clothes and all the symptoms you have all smell of cooking as if you are the cook, very annoying and the smell starts to emanate from the beginning of the morning at breakfast time and you are in the best state of sleep, not to mention the reception staff who do not speak Arabic and do not tire themselves with you by translating, they speak only Ethiopian or broken English that is not clear"

"I had one of the worst hotel experiences here and I do NOT recommend staying at this property. I specifically booked and paid online for two rooms with a bathtub. When I arrived, they gave me only one room with two beds — and there was no bathtub at all, which was part of what I booked and paid for. On the second night, they suddenly insisted that I had booked two separate bedrooms and forced us to move into two different rooms, even though I clearly said I only wanted one room with two beds. They refused to listen. The next day, they claimed my booking was only for one room and started demanding extra payment for the second room — even though the confusion was entirely caused by their own staff. Instead of resolving the issue with the booking agency professionally, they kept calling my room, knocking repeatedly, and disturbing us. The manager even threatened to remove us from the hotel if we didn’t pay again for a room I had already paid for. To make things worse, the hotel internet was broken for over a day. There was also very weak mobile signal inside the room, so I couldn’t even use my own data. I requested a room change because of this, but they refused to help. The management and front desk were unprofessional, rude, and unhelpful. This experience was stressful and completely unacceptable. I strongly advise others to avoid staying here."

"We loved the location ( African Av Bole.) Safety … We tried all the restaurants at the hotel . The staffs were very friendly and always ready to help I DID NOT LIKE the towels they were very old . We asked for a connected room they gave us after 2 nights what they call upgrade rooms with just on higher floor for 30 USD extra charges But my kids room was smelling very BAD SMELL ( Cigarettes ) the kids didn’t like the smell and were forced to stay in that room for 6 more nights"
