Great
AAlec Lyubomirsky (alyubomi)We started our travel to Iceland by driving around Iceland in a campervan, so we were hoping for a relaxing hotel stay in Reykjavik at the end of the trip when we pre-booked. We were not disappointed by the Eyja Guldsmeden. The location was only a few blocks away from downtown where there were tons of shopping and dining options, and the hotel itself was beautiful. In the lobby, we grabbed (included) coffee in the mornings and a reasonably-priced drink for happy hour. The service at the front desk was friendly and cordial. The room itself had a nice view of the mountains and was warm and cozy. It was a great stay and we would definitely go back to this hotel again if we are ever back in Iceland! Our only difficulty, understanding this is mostly outside of the hotel's control, is that some of the sidewalks on the walk to downtown were extremely icy and slippery after a day or so of wintry mix that froze over. We had to be extremely careful making our way down to Laugavegur, which had much safer sidewalks. There were even a few buses and cars that couldn't make their way up or down the icy, hilly streets and had to work their way around. So if you are going in the Winter, be cautious and walk slowly!

TTeacher HarryLayout of room was kind of strange. The bed is on a weird platform that might be difficult to navigate for less agile people, or those who are sleepy or otherwise impaired. Bathroom was overly small. It has a kitchenette, but no microwave. The location is in the heart of the most touristy part of Reykjavik. This is the third hotel I’ve stayed in while traveling to Reykjavik. The others, both lower priced, were not afflicted with the smell of sulphur (rotten eggs) in the water. It is possible to filter this out, and a person paying the price this hotel is asking should be able to expect better quality water. If you want to be in the thick of the tourist action and don’t mind smelly water, this place is OK. Otherwise…

YYoyoChuAs a hostel, the cleanliness is good. But the kitchen area is really small for big groups of travellers. Location wise, it is a little far from the city center. But for us, it only takes 20-25 minutes of walking. It is acceptable. The convenient thing is that we can depart the hostel and to the airport directly (usually it needs to transit at the Reykjavik terminal for airport shuttles).

HHuanyoushijierenxiaoyaoThe hotel is in a good location! The hotel linens in Northern Europe are as good as always! The front desk service is polite and thoughtful! What I didn't expect was that there were cookies in the room! Drinking a cup of coffee, it was like recharging, and immediately immersing myself in the beautiful scenery of Iceland! It's a pity that the sky is not beautiful! I didn't see the northern lights! But the northern lights are rare! I have seen them in Saariselka, Lapland, Finland in March 2018!

AAnonymous UserThe location is good as there is bus transport service from the airport. The room we booked was tiny yet enough to stay overnight.

GGuest UserLocated in downtown Reykjavik, it is convenient for travel and has a good surrounding environment. However, it is a self-service hotel with no front desk and you have to contact by phone, which is very troublesome if you don't have good language skills. The breakfast is OK, rich and purely Western. Attached are photos of the surrounding environment.

GGuest UserThis was our second stay here, so we knew what to expect this time around. We had a room with no window, which I do not at all recommend! There was zero temperature control, and it got very hot very quickly. The room opens up to the hallway, so zero privacy, and lots of people peeing into our room while we were trying to just cool the place down. There is literally not enough space on the floor to open your luggage. So, we were prepared this time and got all of our clothes out and everything in the parking lot, and just left her stuff in the car. This way, we had the tiniest walkway to move around to get from the bed to the bathroom, but that was literally it. The staff was helpful and what they could, but there’s nothing they can do about a hot room with no ventilation. But, around seven in the morning, the cleaning staff came to the room next-door and sounded like they were having a party. I could distinctly hear three different voices and every word they were saying, along with doors, slamming, and lots of excessive noise that woke us up way sooner than we needed to before our flight. I sleep with earplugs to avoid this, and even through the earplugs, I could make out every word these cleaners were saying. Not the most respectful staff, even after I woke up, asked them to tone it down, they just ignored me and went on with their Excessive noise. Aside from finding plenty of hair all over the room, it was pretty clean, but the shower is exceptionally small. I’m a tiny person, so it wasn’t terrible for me, but I could not at all extend my arms and it made for a very rushed shower. The elevator works, and there are actually two, but if the hotel is full, I recommend taking the stairs, even up to the sixth floor. I once waited 16 minutes for the lift, and eventually just decided to take the stairs. All around, it’s a place to stay, and I’m sure the rooms with windows are much better, but I do not recommend this hotel overall.

WWongAaronI recently had the pleasure of staying at Guesthouse Aurora, where the charm of the establishment was only matched by the warmth of its hosts. Nestled in a convenient location next to the Church, the guesthouse presented itself as an inviting home away from home, perfect for travelers looking for an authentic and personal touch to their accommodation. Before arrival, we were worried that we cannot checkin because we took a night flight. However, when i called the staff, he answered that even our arrival time is out of customer service, he could leave the key and PIN code for us to self-checkin, he also went beyond to ensure a smooth check-in process. Their attention to detail and eagerness to assist with any inquiries set the tone for a delightful stay. The guesthouse itself boasted a quaint and cozy atmosphere, with communal areas that were well-kept and adorned with tasteful decorations, offering a homely comfort that was immediately noticeable. The included breakfast was a highlight of the stay, featuring a generous spread of both local and continental options, freshly prepared and sure to satisfy a variety of tastes. The morning meal provided a wonderful opportunity to mingle with other guests and exchange travel tales, all while enjoying the delightful array of food. However, it's worth noting that the room space was somewhat compact. While the room was impeccably clean and well-equipped with the necessary amenities, the limited space could pose a slight inconvenience, especially for those with a significant amount of luggage or a
