LyLo’s location is super convenient and ideal for tourists since it’s right in the city center and walking distance to restaurants (like Fergburger) and a bunch of shops 💯 not to mention it’s surrounded by great views 🤩 rooms are clean and services are complete

Facilities: Complete kitchen facilities, very good, bought ingredients from a nearby supermarket, and cooked by myself Hygiene: Clean and spotless Environment: Right on the roadside, a little noise from passing vehicles at night, but acceptable because too tired Service: The front desk is very responsible, but looks a bit cool and feels quite serious. I went to see the rooms set by Penguin. I was a bit worried about staying in the motel for the first time, but the location and the environment are good. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to the town center. It’s convenient to have breakfast at McDonald’s next door. It’s 30 minutes walk to see Blue Penguin. About minutes.

Decent hostel in good location within 5min walk to the town centre. The showers are dated and no shower gel or shampoo. Which is normal standards in most hostels around the world. They did provide towels which were a added bonus. Would I stay again. Probably.

A great experience for a female solo traveler. I Pros I shared a female dorm with three other women and had a great time getting to know those coming in and out. The shared bathroom was always clean (cleaned every day). The communal kitchen is large and well-organised. You can make use of condiments that get left behind. As it was still cold, there are always fires burning both in reception and the common room. It makes the atmosphere very cosy. The best service I got was from their information desk, which is located in the reception area. As I didn't have a credit card and businesses like Snowbiz in town don't accept cash, I was able to pay for ski passes and rental by making a booking at the service desk (they have a card machine and also accept cash). Cons This side of the hostel where my room was located, just experiences a lot of noise, as there are bars down below, despite the sliding door being sound-proof. Not all the reading lamps for each bed work and also need to be fixed. The shower leaked a lot of water, as the glass door doesn't properly close. Overall though, a great stay and value for money. You do save on accommodation, as QT is an expensive town to visit.

It is clean, quiet and a very nice hostel! Except the room next door was a little loud on my second night of stay. The toilet and bathroom was clean too. Everything is good except hairdryer needs to be change. Would come back! And location is walking distance to the town.

Location was honestly excellent and unbeatable, it’s right next to a bus stop where coaches pick you up for the Milford sound day tour. It’s also a short walk to the steamer wharf area, ＜5 mins. The girls at the reception were friendly. We had no issues with only being able to access the room after 2pm. The room itself was cosy. This seems to be one of the only rooms with a king bed and private toilet - it’s called Lucy’s room. However, it was really dusty - see the dust we cleaned off the window ledge. I am allergic to dust, so I had to wipe it down myself.. There is a pub nearby so music can be heard all the way till 3/4am on Saturday night, so not recommended if you are a light sleeper. We had a quieter night on Sunday though! If I could do it again, I would have topped up the $50-$60 to book Crowne Plaza, which was also in an equally prime spot.

We've been touring around the lower South Island for a little over 2 weeks, staying at motels for generally about 2 nights at a time. The Sierra Motel ranks as one of the nicest we have seen in the whole trip. The exterior looks dated but the interior is fabulous - large, clean, comfortable, and modern. There is a large TV (with basic Sky - would like to access Netflix), king bed, two lounge chairs and a good work/dining space as well as a large shower with two shower heads, and a large outdoor area with an exterior table and 2 chairs. We enjoyed a G&T outside our unit in the fading afternoon sun - very pleasant. Booking through Trip.com also gave us a very competitive price and 25% better that anything the motel would offer, so we were very happy indeed.

Pros: location is good, near to a grocery store. Room is large, lovely toilet. a small microwave. Cons: Not satisfied with the breakfast. Juices and milk were served in glasses in the evening before the next day and they were just covered with a plastic. Dont think this is very hygienic. Cleanliness of the room is moderate, the linen is clean but we are not sure about the sheet covering it, looks not clean. A bit expensive to be served with opened milk and juices (covered with plastic) only. Other than that, its ok.

The location is quite good, you can walk to and from the city center. They operate several accommodation buildings, so you can park right in front of the entrance, but if there is no space, you have to park on the street. However, I remember that there were always cars. The accommodation had a bit of a peculiar smell, but the facilities were new and not very comfortable. The staff were very friendly, so there was no difficulty in checking in and out. There were no other inconveniences.
