Haka House Queenstown Lakefront

Stayed here for 2 nights. everything is excellent. I love every Haka House I’ve booked throughout my days in NZ.

I had a fantastic one-night stay at Haka House Queenstown! The hostel was clean, cozy, and well-maintained, with a friendly atmosphere. The staff were welcoming and helpful, and the central location made it perfect for exploring Queenstown. Highly recommended!

When I was checking in the other day, the guy at reception was kinda new, so there was a long queue. Luckily, we have self check in machine. The location was perfect. And i got to know my roommate, who is also from Asia. We talked a lot.

First time trying backpacker hotel and I had very wonderful experience in Haka House. Nice location and it’s very clean. During night time is very quiet definitely will come back next time 😆😆

Location is just a 10min walk to the center of downtown Queenstown. The place is clean and cozy. There’s a big kitchen communal area that occupies almost the entire first floor. People can cook their food there. I think all cooking utensils and tools are provided. For the room, I stayed in a one bunk bed (2single beds). Space is enough for two occupants. Each bed has it’s own light and power sockets. Locker is also available to put your valuable things. Just bring your own lock. Also, bring your own towels. They don’t provide it for free. You have to rent it and pay NZD4. Common toilets and showers were clean and spotless during my four night stay.

Very friendly and helpful staffs. The room is clean and comfortable. Breathtaking lakefront view. Walking distance to the town.

Great location with beautiful lake views, and only a 10-minute walk to the town centre. The shared bathrooms were surprisingly clean and were constantly being serviced by staff. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the room was appalling. The bed sheets had obviously not been changed before I checked in, with numerous strands of hair from different previous guests left on the bedding. This isn’t a minor housekeeping oversight—it’s a basic hygiene failure. It’s hard to understand how a room could be considered ready for a new guest in this condition. The contrast between the clean shared facilities and the unacceptable state of the bed was astonishing.

I stayed in 6 pax female room, overall is good and comfortable! I sleep very well, and I‘ll definitely come back again in future!

- great accommodation for backpackers - room is spacious (can open both luggage and keep them under the bed), great view of Lake Wakatipu to - street parking just outside of Haka House is free but very limited. ended up paying $15 per night for parking within Haka House (there’s limited lots as well) - there’s stairs from reception area to the first floor. have to carry luggage up a small flight of stairs before being able to access the lift - communal kitchen is big and spacious for 6 groups to cook at the same time
