Hostels in Hong Kong, China

I was in HK for the first time and split my stay into 2 nights in Kowloon, 1 night in Macau, and then 3 nights on HK island. Honestly, this hotel impressed me the most. Let’s get the bad points out of the way first. This hotel is a small hotel on a building that leases their floors/units/spaces to other businesses, including this hotel and other hotels within the building. There are 3 elevators, 2 of them for passengers, whereby one serves odd numbered floors and the other serves even number floors. The last elevator is for freight when required that serves all floors. This means that sometimes you have to wait an absolutely long time to get back to your room. However, I also visited Chungking Mansion (another similar hotel building), and there it was so much worse so it’s not too bad here. Now to the good points, and there are a lot. The hotel room was actually kind of spacious. It’s not huge, but the area was a square, so you have more than enough room to open a suitcase or do a home workout (I did). The toilet was also spacious. There’s a space for showering, a toilet, and a sink, and you wouldn’t feel like you are squeezed for space. The location of this hotel is also a huge boon. It’s literally the building just beside the metro exit so it is super convenient. You are also on TST MTR station, which means it is super convenient to go anywhere, including crossing to HK island either by MTR or ferry. There is a freaking good Michelin featured shengjian bao shop just downstairs of the hotel, and it was so delicious I ate there so many times I didn’t even have time to try the other delicious looking cafes and restaurants. Service was also pretty good. It’s a pretty mainland China styled hotel. Communication is done through WeChat, with a very friendly and helpful staff who answers promptly. Bed was also very comfortable honestly. For this price, I wish I only stayed at this hotel my entire trip.

My favourite place to stay in Hong Kong. The rooms are clean, modern, and reasonably priced. The staff are friendly and organised, and the hostel has a kitchen, a communal area with outdoor seating, and a laundry room (washing and drying cost around 60 HKD at the time). Food places and shops are right around the corner, and public transport to the city centre or other parts of HK is close by. Fun fact: the building was originally one of the first public housing projects in Hong Kong, built in the 1950s, and it was also awarded with Honourable Mention by UNESCO in 2015. There’s even a museum dedicated to its history right across from the hostel entrance.

The hotel is a walking distance from the Kowloon station and the night market. Also so close to great shopping streets and many restaurants. We found the room very very clean, no smell at all and good conditions. The staff operated fast to check us in and was very kind when we needed to make another room card for both of us. For fast trips I will definitely go back to West Hotel! 

Good hotel. The room obviously small, but for Hong Kong it’s normal. Room has all that I needed, like sneakers, few clothes racks, adapter for my charger, kettle, water, hair dryer and toothbrush with toothpaste. Room was clean, maybe not perfect in some places, but overall it was good. Noise insulation is not very good, but for me it wasn’t a problem. It was a bit cold in room, when weather was below 15 degrees. On the other side, when I stay shower always had hot water. I’m glad to stay in this hotel, I hadn’t problems at all. It is advisable to have WeChat because when checking in and out I just wrote about it via WeChat, maybe it would have been a problem if I didn't have it.

Excellent location in that it is near alot of shops and restaurants. I liked how it has a place where guests can sit down and tables to do things. I like how it has a kitchen where guests can cook their own food and has filtered water where guests can fill their own bottles. Hotel was very fair about things that you can and cannot do. Room was very spacious considering how limited and small Hong Kong is. I was in room 1003 on the 10th floor. The only bad thing that I had to deal with at this place was this long term stay guests that was probably around his late 50's and early 60's that was behaving irrationally towards me when I was taking a shower by knocking on the door and using swear words saying I was taking too long when I just got in there and started. I only had to wash my hair and face which wasn't too long. It's not like he had to use the shower next after me and it's not his frekkin place. He must be dealing with a lot of personnel problems that's probably driving him nuts and causing him to become crazy and irrational like this. I know he's dealing with health problems because I overheard him talking to one of the workers when I was doing my own thing on my bed and he was talking about some operation he had to go through. I believe his religion was Catholic. Must be stressful for him having to deal with the high cost of living in Hong Kong.

Carnation Hotel is a very nice and affordable place to stay. The rooms are very clean and comfortable! The staff are all very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend staying here

I think this hotel is the best value for money in Hong Kong. Located few minutes from Mong Kok metro station, on a very busy street (Nathan road) but I didn't hear anything from my room (also because I didn't have nya window overlooking the street). You can also walk easily from the hotel to Tsim Sha Tsui, via Temple street. The hotel is situated in a huge building with 20+ floors, shared with lots of hotels and private apartments. The building is accessible to everyone from the street so be careful at night. The room itself was obviously tiny but I had a small double bed which was enough for one person but maybe too small for two people. It was clean, the shower is in the toilets which is weird at first place but it was clean. The staff was very nice too !

The moter is very convenient and the customer service is very polite and good , this is from me is very comfortable and the room is very good , if I have a time , I will to go again.

I was staying on the 15th floor in Park Guesthouse. Very clean rooms and comfortable white bedding. Superb service. Very kind and friendly staff. I like very much young lady Siska who was very attentive and kind while I was not feeling well. Convenient location for transport and shopping. Gladly recommend.

Good beds, great curtains, comfortable stay. I had to ask for an extra blanket as it was very cold when I stayed, no problems with this. My only issue is that my key card didn't work one night when I returned. I was very lucky that someone from my room walked out and let me in. Later it turned out I was given an old card and should have been issued a new one instead. The staff was very apologetic. Good stay!
