Shanghai is a vibrant coastal megacity where East harmoniously converges with West. As China's premier global financial center, it juxtaposes the colonial-era architecture of the Bund with the futuristic skyline of Lujiazui. Traditional lilong alleys meander behind chic cafés, while art deco landmarks stand proudly beside modern skyscrapers. From tantalizing street food to Michelin-starred restaurants, Shanghai is bold, stylish, and perpetually in motion.

While West Nanjing Road dazzles with its luxury shops and bustling crowds, tucked just a little off the main street lies a hidden gem that offers a quiet retreat from the city’s fast pace. This secret spot is where you can escape the shopping frenzy and soak in a more authentic, peaceful side of Shanghai.

Wandering down a small alley near the shopping district, you’ll find a charming café that blends traditional Chinese aesthetics with modern minimalism. Surrounded by lush greenery and delicate lanterns, it’s the perfect place to unwind with a cup of freshly brewed tea or a delicate matcha latte. The cozy ambiance invites you to slow down, relax, and watch the world go by.

This hidden gem isn’t just about great coffee—it’s also a cultural oasis. The café often hosts art exhibitions, live acoustic music, and local craft workshops, giving visitors a chance to connect with Shanghai’s creative community in a way you won’t find in the crowded shopping malls. It’s a place where locals and travelers mingle, sharing stories and inspiration.

For those who want a break from the glitz and glamor of West Nanjing Road’s luxury stores, this quiet hideaway is a refreshing discovery. It’s a reminder that amidst the city’s skyscrapers and neon lights, there are still peaceful corners full of charm and warmth.

Next time you’re strolling along West Nanjing Road, take a moment to explore the alleys and find your own secret spot—sometimes, the best travel memories come from the hidden gems off the beaten path. 🌿✨

#Overseas travel The best place I visited in Shanghai is

Panlong Tianti, a water village located about 30 minutes away from downtown Shanghai.

Panlong Tianti is an artificial water village close to downtown Shanghai, and is a tourist attraction that combines traditional Chinese architecture with modern sensibility.

From delicious restaurants, shopping, prop shops, and cafes,

It was so good that I wouldn't regret spending the whole day there.

If you visit Shanghai, I highly recommend you stop by.

Arrived in Shanghai and started the day exploring The Bund, the iconic skyline! Then we headed to Nanjing Road—a must-visit for anyone in the city. Of course, I couldn’t skip Chagee, but this time I discovered my new fave: Da Hong Pao Milk Tea🧋

We kept walking until nightfall, and honestly, Nanjing Road at night is magical—the city lights are a feast for the eyes✨ #china #exploringshanghai #shanghai #thebund

If ever you found yourself in Shanghai and in need of a hotel, this is the one for you!
I booked two rooms for two night for me and my kids.
At first i didn't expect much, but from the moment i stepped into the hotel it was a truly five star experience from the staff to the room.
The room was spacious with a sleek and modern look, the bathroom is a work of art. And the view of Changfeng park from our room is breathtaking.
The breakfast menu is delicious with a lot of variety but in case you want to stroll for other menu there's literally a Joy City Mall across the street!
Also metro station right in front of the hotel.

Of all the five stars hotels I've stayed in Shanghai, this is by far the most pleasant. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

If you want to stay here there's a slightly cheaper rate from Trip's 'stay voucher' for this hotel

Who says you can’t find Christmas magic in the heart of Shanghai?
The Bund transformed into a cozy European-style Christmas market, and it honestly felt like stepping into a holiday movie. ❄️🎅

Twinkling fairy lights draped along the historic skyline, wooden stalls filled with handmade crafts, mulled wine in hand, and Christmas carols floating through the air — it was festive, heartwarming, and absolutely magical. 🕯️✨

I wandered through rows of artisan goodies, tasted warm pretzels and roasted chestnuts, and even found the cutest hand-painted ornaments to take home. 🎁🧤 The best part? Sipping hot chocolate while watching the lights reflect on the Huangpu River. Just… wow.

Every corner of the market had something to offer — photo spots with glowing reindeer, couples ice skating, and families bundled up laughing together. And with The Bund’s classic skyline as the backdrop? Holiday perfection. 🎆🎄

If you're in Shanghai during the holiday season, don’t miss this little pocket of joy. It’s where East meets West with a Christmas twist, and it’s guaranteed to put you in a festive mood — even if there’s no snow.

Christmas in China? 10/10 vibes. 🎅🇨🇳

If there’s one way to truly experience the mesmerizing beauty of Shanghai, it’s on a nighttime river cruise along the Huangpu River. As the sun sets and the city lights start to sparkle, the skyline transforms into a dazzling canvas of bright lights and glowing reflections. This cruise is a magical way to witness the city’s contrast of old and new, from the historic Bund to the futuristic Lujiazui district.

The moment you board the boat, you’re treated to an incredible view of Shanghai’s city lights reflecting off the river’s surface. The Huangpu River serves as a natural boundary, dividing the old colonial architecture of the Bund from the towering skyscrapers of Pudong. At night, the neon lights, towering buildings, and the iconic Shanghai Tower light up, creating a breathtaking sight that is pure magic.

As the boat drifts gently down the river, you pass under the illuminated bridges, with the stunning cityscape unfolding in every direction. From the Oriental Pearl Tower to the Jin Mao Tower, each building offers a unique light show that takes on a life of its own when the sun goes down.

Whether you're a photographer looking to capture the perfect shot or simply a traveler wanting to take in the beauty of the city, the Huangpu River night cruise gives you an unparalleled view of Shanghai at its most spectacular. It’s an experience that will leave you in awe of this dazzling metropolis.

If Yu Garden by day is like a delicate Chinese ink painting in fine brush strokes, then by night, it’s a vivid dream of Jiangnan brought to life ✨.
As night falls and the lights begin to glow, it’s as if a spell has been cast🪄—awakening this classical garden, first built during the Ming Dynasty, into something magical once again.

Strolling slowly across the zigzagging Nine-Turn Bridge🌉, the lake beneath reflects the glowing lanterns, and the bridge twists and turns like a tunnel through time⏳, connecting the modern world to the ancient past. Look up, and you’ll see the sweeping, upturned eaves shimmering gold under the warm lights🏮—every brick and tile whispering stories from over 600 years ago📖. A gentle breeze stirs, red lanterns sway🎐, and it’s as if distant echoes of opera rise from within—drums, gongs, and the soft cadence of Wu dialect murmuring through the air.

Yu Garden at night isn’t just about “seeing the lights”—it’s a fully immersive cultural experience🧧. The old shops lining the streets remain open, offering hand-crafted sugar art, paper cuttings, traditional tea houses, and calligraphy brushes… here, heritage blends seamlessly with everyday life🔥.
Tired from walking? Duck into a time-honored dessert shop🍡, order a steaming bowl of osmanthus tangyuan or a soothing cup of chrysanthemum tea☕, and sit by the window, watching the glow of lanterns and the flow of people. Your heart will find a rare moment of peace.

The most breathtaking sight? Standing at the midpoint of the Nine-Turn Bridge, looking out toward the Mid-Lake Pavilion and surrounding pavilions🏯—the entire view becomes a moving ink painting, so beautiful it feels unreal.

If you’re in Shanghai, make sure to reserve an evening for Yu Garden🌃.
By day, it’s elegant and refined; by night, it’s bold yet gentle—an unforgettable expression of Eastern romance you’ll never want to leave❤️.#shanghaitrip

Shanghai is a city with a “modern, high-class, but still classic” feel. If Tokyo gives you a futuristic feel, Shanghai gives you a “rich, stylish, and cool Chinese” feel. When I first got there, I was like… wow, tall buildings lined up like they were competing to be taller. It’s even brighter at night. The lights on the bridge and the lights on the buildings reflecting the Huangpu River are so beautiful that you have to take hundreds of photos.

But what’s cool is that the city doesn’t just have a modern side. There’s also an old side, like the old brick streets and the old town where you can walk around and find cute tea shops and old people toddling around playing chess. The contrast is just perfect.

The food is also amazing—xiao long bao, stir-fried kale, fried buns, black soup noodles. Oh, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. And the people there are cool and classy. They’re fashionable but not over the top. They have an uncompromising sense of style. Do you understand?

Another thing is that the subway there runs really fast. The city is chaotic, but it seems to be orderly in its own way. And there’s even a Disneyland! (Zootopia fans must go. If you don't go, you'll miss out.)

To summarize, Shanghai is a city that has luxury, old, authentic Chinese, modern, and deliciousness. You will definitely never get bored.

🇨🇳 Day 5 Shanghai Trip - After we had breakfast, packed our luggage and checked out of the hotel. We left our luggage there and went sightseeing.
Starting with a brunch cafe. This was on our list since the beginning of our trip, "Amam Lonbakery Town" 🚀

🐕🛷Let's call it a dog cafe. There are so many bakery shops. No matter where you look, you want to eat. It's very easy to get there. Take the metro and get off at "West Nanjing Road" station. The shop opens at noon. I recommend going a little earlier or the shop will be full. Don't say I didn't tell you. 🌤

If anyone has any recommendations, please tell me. 😍
