Finding Places Without Koreans - Osaka + Kyoto Trip (feat. Brooklyn)
How did I end up traveling to find places without Koreans?
When you think of traveling to Osaka, Dotonbori often comes to mind.
It's a must-visit spot and also a place with many tourists...
After traveling to Japan several times, I wanted to visit less famous places and wondered what Japan’s café streets would feel like, similar to those in Korea, so I looked it up and visited.
It wasn’t far from Umeda Station.
To find a new vibe instead of the usual spots I go to when in Osaka. There were no Koreans.
There were actually more foreigners than Japanese at this café.
1️⃣ Brooklyn Roasting Company Kitahama
The café had indoor seating and was located by the river, so it was a space where you could enjoy a cup of coffee while looking at the river.
I’m not sure if they roast the beans themselves, but the café was bigger than I expected and felt more like a foreign country than Japan.
It felt like New York from TV? (I haven’t been there, so I can’t explain it well.)
But the coffee was really delicious.
When you go to Arashiyama, everyone lines up for that famous coffee... (I also stood in line and drank it a bit...) but this coffee felt tastier than that.
I think it would be even better to go at sunset or on a cool afternoon.
It was such a healing space to relax in.
If you visit Osaka or Umeda, definitely check it out.

2️⃣ Bread, espresso and garden's Bread Shop
- A bakery where locals line up to buy bread
A bakery located in Arashiyama that I discovered while passing by
Google rating 4.6
As a bread lover, I search for bakeries when I travel. When I visited Arashiyama, I found this place on Google. If locals line up waiting for the opening, the taste is guaranteed. They had a wide variety of bread.
I wanted to try everything, but I had salt bread, red bean butter, and matcha cookies. I didn’t buy many, but all were delicious.
Among them, I can’t forget the red bean butter... ✨️

3️⃣ Kyoto Station Mini One Bakery
A bakery where people line up after work. Compared to the croissant shop in Fukuoka where people line up, the taste is a bit disappointing, but they have small croissants and other types of bread, so it’s good for a snack. I recommend buying some before boarding the train and trying them.

*️⃣ Bonus: Arashiyama % Coffee
A very famous place in Arashiyama
Not a place without Koreans, but actually full of Koreans lining up to get coffee.
Honestly, I don’t know what’s so special about it.
I had a Kyoto latte... I tried it once by going early so I didn’t have to wait long. That was it. I don’t think I went again even though I went to Arashiyama (but it depends on personal preference :))
It seems like people go there for the atmosphere.
