This time we came to Sweet & Sour’s new branch, Sweet & Sour Kitchen, in Datong District, Taipei City! This four-story old house located on Chongqing North Road has been rebuilt. Each floor has a different design style, combining both retro and modern atmospheres. For me, the 3rd and 4th floors are modern and simple, which is my favorite space. The journey of unpacking budget hotels continues. Today I have a new travel companion, so I chose to stay in a bunk bed type with a double bed. We came to Taipei to stay overnight because we are here to apply for visas and prepare to go abroad to introduce more interesting things to everyone. This Changji No. 1 Memory Hotel is located in the more modern Datong District of Taipei City. It is about a ten-minute walk from Minquan West Road Station. The location is also very convenient for travelers because Minquan West Road Station is a very important MRT transfer station with easy access. The interior style is industrial, which blends well with the contemporary feel of Datong District. Industrial-style wallpaper is used on the residential floors to enhance overall consistency. The room was very basic and did not provide any amenities. There was no bed curtain and lacked privacy, but the bed was very comfortable to sleep on. Today was a weekday and luckily there were no other guests staying there, so we both fell asleep quietly and comfortably on the bed after checking in in the afternoon. We slept for three hours and were going to look for something delicious to eat later. The staff at the counter looked a little serious, but the contrast was immediately apparent as soon as they opened their mouths, as their attitude was very friendly and nice, and their explanation was very detailed, which was a plus. Seeing some LGBT-friendly stickers on the counter, I also felt that the operator here was someone who paid attention to social welfare and justice issues, which was also a plus. Harajuku Cat Street and the area behind the former Dojunkai apartments in Omotesando have a more relaxed atmosphere. While strolling around at night, I spotted a cafe-like building on the second floor of an alleyway, and decided to stop in. It was a great choice! "Kitafusha" While the area seems to be popular with young people, the lovely interior, renovated while still making use of the old building, is calming and comfortable, making it a comfortable place for adults to enjoy. You can really feel the care that went into creating it. They seem to be particular about their coffee, so I wanted to try a drip coffee, but it was sold out. I ordered a cafe latte. It had a strong, rich coffee flavor and was delicious. I went alone and sat at the counter, so I was able to watch the two young, fashionable staff at work up close. I was impressed by how carefully they prepared both the drinks and desserts! The exhibition and sales area for artists' works dealt with social issues, and I also liked the fact that they had a poster for a queer film festival held in Taiwan. It's open until midnight and serves alcohol. There seems to be tatami seating up the stairs. If you're in Taipei, be sure to stop by. The shop is decorated with Japanese items, both accessories and toys. It has the atmosphere of a Japanese grocery store. They also sell Japanese toys and snacks. Importantly, the owners are a Japanese couple who moved to Taiwan. They are very friendly and lovely. #AbsolutelyFreeTrip When I went for a walk from the hotel I was staying at, I found a cafe with a nice atmosphere, so I went in. Kadokoen Coffee It's on the second floor of a building on the corner. My feeling was right, it was a very cute cafe that was renovated from an old building. It was a chilly night, so I ordered Taiwanese tea. They also gave me extra hot water. After looking it up, it seems to be a very popular cafe, and their iced latte, which is made by pouring milk into a frozen coffee cube, is popular! I'd like to try it next time. I heard a cat meowing, so maybe there's a cat there to mark the occasion. I headed from the Y13 exit of the Taipei Underground Mall, but it seems a little closer from Zhongshan Station. #AbsolutelyFreeTrip Gaifurou Coffee House is located on Xining North Road, one block away from Dihua Street in Taipei. The exterior is made of red bricks with an emerald green door. The first floor is a very nice cafe, and the Taiwanese tea and coffee are delicious! They also serve desserts. Next door is the Taiyuan Asia Puppet Museum, a museum of puppet theater in Taiwan and around the world, and there are panels and bookshelves introducing its founder, Lin Jingfu, and his spirit. There is also another mini-theater called Natto Theater next door, which was built in 1918, so I think Gyakufurou is also a historic building, judging from its style. And the important thing about this cafe is that it leads to supporting young people. I stopped by this cafe thinking it was nice as I was passing by, without knowing anything about its background. They provide a place to stay, a job, technical support, etc. to young people who are forced to turn to delinquency due to various circumstances, and support their independence. If you go up to the second and third floors, there is an explanatory exhibit about Gyakufurou. Although the harsh reality that the children experienced is heartbreaking, I'm glad that there is a place like Gyakufurou that can help people find themselves and achieve their dreams.
