Tanba Sasayama - Delicious Peony Hotpot Iwaya
Peony hotpot that I always visit every year
[Iwaya] in Tanba Sasayama
It's in the mountains and you need a car to access it, but I go there every year during the season 🐗🐗
It's about a 20-minute taxi ride from the nearest station.
There are many cars with license plates from other prefectures, and many people come from far away
Reservations are required during the season.
Peony hotpot eaten at the hearth
The atmosphere is great and it increases your appetite 🤤
It doesn't have any odor and the more you simmer it the softer it becomes, and although the miso is strong, you can eat it all up until the end!
The vegetables in the hotpot are delicious, and the rice is also delicious.
There is a different menu in the summer season, so you can enjoy it all year round!

[Hyogo, Tamba Sasayama] Weekend outing plan🚙 Just like Kyoto! You can also visit power spots❣️
I'll introduce you to a recommended itinerary for Tanba Sasayama, which is said to be the closest Little Kyoto to Osaka. 🧡
I've always wanted to visit the Fukuzumi district. It was like traveling back in time to the Edo period.
There is a parking lot nearby, and it is small so you can walk around as if you are going for a walk☺️
I had lunch at this old-style cafe that was featured on Seiji Chihara's show and was very satisfied🧡I hope it will be helpful to know about the red torii gates like those at Fushimi Inari and the black bean pudding souvenir✨

I went to Tanba Sasayama using the prefectural discount. This is a store that specializes in warabimochi. Warabimochi made with kinako (roasted soybean flour) from Tanba black beans is recommended as a souvenir. The smooth texture of the warabimochi drink was fresh. It was sweet and delicious😊

Sasayama Castle Daishoin: A famous Japanese castle without a castle tower
This morning we drove from Fairfield Inn Kyoto Tamba to Sasayama Castle. This time we mainly came to see the Daishoin (why is Daishoin more attractive to me than Sasayama Castle? XD). This is a national historic site. Unfortunately, Daishoin was ravaged by a fire in 1944 and was rebuilt in 2000. It was also selected as one of the 100 famous castles in Japan in 2006. It was also because of this 100 famous castles that we started to drive to collect stamps wherever we go in the next few days. XD
Sasayama Castle is a sturdy castle built by Todo Takatora and is the landmark of Tamba Sasayama.
If you are interested in Japanese samurai armor, you can pay to experience it (Samurai Armor Experience in Sasayama Castle)
The most noteworthy room in the Great Academy is the "Upper Section Room". It is the highest-level room in the Great Academy. It has a 6.9-meter-long alcove. On the right side is a bookshelf and decorative shelf formed by staggered wooden boards of different heights.
"Sasayama Castle" had a castle tower when it was first built, but it was never completed. When the castle was built (1609), the Edo Shogunate used the reason that the castle was too strong. Order to stop the construction of the castle tower

There is a stone gold cabinet in Qingshan Historical Village, which is worth seeing.
The "Aoyama Historical Village" is centered on a building called "Katsura Garden Society", which is the villa of the Aoyama family, the lord of the Shinoyama domain. It consists of three warehouses and a long mountain gate. Here you can experience the politics, culture, and life of the Edo period.

Cafe where you can enjoy sweets made with the famous black beans of Hyogo
I visited a cafe called 'Odagaki Mame-do' in Tamba Sasayama, Hyogo Prefecture!
📍19 Tate-machi, Tamba Sasayama, Hyogo Prefecture
This cafe offers dishes and sweets made with the famous black beans of Tamba Sasayama! The cafe is set in a grand mansion where you can enjoy the view of the lush greenery and the dry landscape garden! While admiring such a beautiful scenery, I had the black bean soft serve! It was rich and very delicious! When I was leaving, the staff told me a lot about the garden and the mansion, which was very interesting! They also have seasonal parfaits and weekend-only tiramisu, so I definitely want to visit again!

Cafe Renovated from a Community Center in Hyogo
I visited 'Cafe Shingetsu' located in Tamba Sasayama City, Hyogo Prefecture!
📍 Kamitachikui, Imada-cho, Tamba Sasayama City, Hyogo Prefecture
This cafe was created by renovating a community center in an area lined with kilns in Imada-cho! The interior of the cafe has high ceilings, giving it a spacious and open feel! The decor is lovely, creating a very relaxing atmosphere to enjoy your coffee! The carefully brewed coffee and vegan chocolate cake were filled with dedication and were incredibly delicious! The greenery outside and the freshly planted rice fields added to the serene and happy cafe experience!

[Hyogo] A lovely cafe surrounded by nature
I went to a cafe called "Touya cafe" in Tanba Sasayama City, Hyogo Prefecture!
📍Kyuba, Imada-cho, Tanba Sasayama City, Hyogo Prefecture
It was a wonderful shop surrounded by nature! I ate a delicious parfait and was soothed by nature! This time I used the cafe, but the lunch plate that changes every month also looked very delicious! There were a lot of cute goats outside the shop, and when I was looking at the baby goats, I was surprised to see the mother goat peeking in from the window above! She stuck her head out the window to see me off until I left!

The ancient temple "Dokoji" is a famous spot for viewing autumn leaves.
This temple was founded during the Nanboku-cho period, and with the support of the Ashikaga and Hosokawa clans, it is a historic temple that is one of the three great temples in Tanba, and is popular among those in the know as a spot to see the autumn leaves. In mid-November, the Autumn Leaves Festival is held.
There is also free parking. You will have to go through a narrow road, but if you are driving by car, it is no problem.
There are a few steps up to the temple grounds. There are clean restrooms, so you don't have to worry. It is compact, but the autumn leaves were a wonderful gradation.

An old-fashioned Edo period townscape with beautiful white walls.
Kawaramachi Tsumairi Merchants District has been designated as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings by the national government, and even today, the historical scenery along the approximately 600m street is well preserved. Telephone poles and power lines are buried underground to preserve the scenery.
The road is wide, and walking down the street gives you the feeling of a post town, allowing you to walk while reminiscing about the past.
It is also popular with young people, with stylish general stores, cafes, and hotels that can be rented out as a whole.
I went on a weekday, but there were few people on the roads, so I was able to stroll leisurely.

At the shrine of "losers"
Climbing the long stone steps lined with red torii gates like a tunnel to the top of the hill, you will come across from Ojiyama Inari Shrine and find "Makekiri Inari" enshrined on the sumo ring.
As its name suggests, "Makekiri Inari" means "hate to make," so the shrine is widely worshipped as a god of good fortune, protection from disaster, prosperity in business, victory, and success in exams.
There are stone steps, but they are low and there are wooden walking sticks available for your convenience. It is located on a hill overlooking Sasayama.
The shrine office is unmanned, but you can buy amulets there.
The shrine is also famous for its cherry blossoms and autumn leaves.
It is about a 10-minute drive from Sasayama city.

Ogura Cafe: A piano and wood stove cafe
This is a shop where you can feel the attention to detail with a wood stove, grand piano, antique clock, antique furniture, and more.
There are also sofa seats where you can sit comfortably, and it feels more like a relaxing home than a cafe.
I ordered coffee and cheesecake, and the coffee was easy to drink with no unpleasant taste, and the cheesecake was very rich and delicious.
I recommend the atmosphere and the taste.

Visiting a Sake Brewery in the Castle Town
Near the Tamba Sasayama Castle, the sake brewery 'Hōmei' opened the 'Horoyoi Jokagura' as a tour facility in 2001. The building is also registered as a tangible cultural property of the country.
The sake brewery, which has been in operation since the Edo period, has been renovated and refurbished. Visitors can freely tour the old tools and panels used in actual sake brewing, as well as the rice washing area, steaming area, and koji room.
After the tour, you can also taste the sake, and if you find something you like, you can purchase it.
They handle many local sakes from Tamba Sasayama, making it a spot that both sake lovers and non-drinkers can enjoy.

Sasayama Castle without a Tenshu (main keep)
Sasayama Castle was built in 1609 in Tamba Sasayama, Hyogo Prefecture, a key transportation hub. Instead of a Tenshu, the large study hall (Daishoin), constructed around the same time as the castle, served as the political center.
This large wooden structure was a room only accessible to the feudal lord. Although it was destroyed by fire in January 1944, it was reconstructed in 2000.
The autumn leaves are beautiful, and many tourists visit in spring for the cherry blossoms. It is a place that can be enjoyed in different seasons.
Admission fee: 400 yen.
Closed on Mondays.

Tamba Namiki-michi Central Park is a place where dinosaur fossils have been found, and there are dinosaur-themed playground equipment and the "Ancient Creatures Museum."

It's about a 10-minute walk from the parking lot, and there are some impressive dinosaurs waiting for you.

[Hyogo] Must-see spots for autumn photos🎨 🍁
There are also "upside-down maples" reflected in the pond, so you can take some great autumn photos.

Toukouji Temple

I went there a little early, but
Toukouji Temple in Tanba Sasayama City, Hyogo Prefecture
Autumn is so beautiful! 🍂🍁🐿️
When you pass through the temple gate, you will see a collaboration of bright red and yellow autumn leaves and ginkgo trees!
The leaves spread out all over the place like autumn art🎨 🍁
Toukouji Temple is a super old temple built in 1374, but it is still very popular with tourists❣️
There are more than 50 maples and three sturdy ginkgo trees in the temple grounds, and in autumn the leaves turn a beautiful color.
This year's autumn leaves started to change in early November, and the ginkgo leaves fell quickly, creating a yellow carpet of color on the ground. 💛
The "upside-down maple leaves" reflected in the pond are also very picturesque and amazing! The area in front of the Inari Shrine is a particularly popular photo spot. If you want to take some beautiful autumn photos, this might be a must-see spot🤭
