Here’s my suggested itinerary: Day 1: Depart from Hanoi early in the morning (the journey takes about 5 hours). Stop for lunch in Bac Yen, then continue the drive to Ta Xua. In the afternoon, take it easy and relax at Đỉnh Gió—the highest point in Ta Xua town, where you’ll find many cozy coffee shops. This is one of the prime spots for cloud hunting, and you may catch your first glimpse of the sea of clouds here. Overnight near Đỉnh Gió. Day 2: Start the day with an early sunrise (and hopefully a sea of clouds, if the weather cooperates). Afterward, visit some of Ta Xua's iconic spots like Dolphin Peak, The Lonely Tree, and the Highland Grasslands, all close to each other. You can opt to stay another night at Ta Xua Lu Tre Homestay for more cloud hunting opportunities, or drive closer to Dragon Spine (Sống Lưng Khủng Long). Day 3: Get up early for the sunrise and some light trekking along Dragon Spine—one of the best locations for cloud hunting and incredible views. Afterward, enjoy a relaxing cup of coffee, then begin your drive back to Hanoi. Optional: If time allows, consider another day exploring Xím Vàng or take a longer hike to the Ta Xua Peak for a more immersive adventure. Although this trip did not start out really lucky because Ta Xua welcomed me with heavy rains and fog. But I felt happy by welcoming the moment when the weather became clear, the clouds were beautiful, and the sun was shining after a long period of bad weather. People say: "Ta Xua cloud hunting is a test of dignity." Fortunately, our group was successful in rattan hunting with the 2-day-1-night Ta Xua tour departing from Hanoi. There are many different means of transportation to get to Ta Xua such as motorbikes, passenger cars, tourist cars, etc. You can rent an entire Limousine from Khanh Thinh bus company for 700K/person both to and fro. The bus departed from Hoang Cau Hanoi at 9pm, arrived at Ta Xua in about 5 hours, arrived at Son La city around 12pm, the bus stopped to change the driver and we took the opportunity to go to the bathroom and then continue. The journey is about 50km to Ta Xua. After another hour or so of travel, we were at the "cloud hunting paradise" of Ta Xua. While still sitting in the car, the driver told me to get up and look at the clouds. My eyes were still sleepy and I tried to open them wide enough to see. Well, Ta Xua was so kind to welcome us with a sea of white rolling clouds. At 1:00 a.m. it was even more magical, making us feel like we were lost in a fairyland.
