When you arrive at the Damo caves there is an array of funky photo opportunities (Pic4) just past the entrance gate. Once you are inside there is a short walk to the main caves and statues. The majority of the statues and tablets are fairly new, but this is an affordable attraction and if you continue to hike up the mountainside there are some cool older carvings in small caves as you get the top. You won't need too long at the Damo caves, but it is a nice addition to a days touristing in Nanjing. Getting There- It's possible to walk from the nearest metro and there is a nice park and lake that you would walk beside to get there. The quickest option is to get a taxi to the entrance gate.
