Back to the history of Wuji Tianyuan Palace, it is said that more than 40 years ago, employees of the Port Authority received instructions from a spirit medium in their dormitory, and later eight believers decided to establish the Tianyuan Palace together. The Babalongchi well was dug and a statue of the Wuji Patriarch was carved to save all living beings with Taoist teachings. Today, Tianyuan Temple is not only a popular religious center, but also one of the best spots for cherry blossom viewing in Greater Taipei. It is said that it started with a believer donating two Yoshino cherry trees, and volunteers began to plant mountain cherry blossoms. Originally, a large number of electric poles blocked the view of the cherry blossoms, so after the volunteers and the temple raised funds, they began to move the electric poles underground a few years ago to better display the beauty of the cherry blossoms in spring. Tamsui Tianyuan Temple was completed in 1985, and in 1992, the 'Wuji Tianyuan True Altar' (Figures 1-8) was added. It stands 200 meters tall, with a five-story circular structure that has a diameter of 108 meters, making it very majestic and spectacular. Each hall enshrines various deities of the Wuji realm. The main hall (Figures 9-16) enshrines the Wuji Laozu, with the Jade Emperor as the main deity.
