Gems of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai
Chiang Mai:
Day 1: stay in a cheap hostel on the outskirts of Chiang Mai and explore the area.
Be sure to explore night markets such as Chinatown Night Bazaar or for cheaper markets frequented by locals, Kadmanee market. Chiang Mai Gate market is good too.
Day 2: Pha Chor Canyon,
Doi Inthanon (Wachirathan Waterfalls, Ang Ka Nature Trail, King and Queen Chedis, Pha Dok Siew nature trail),
Karen Tribe village
Doi Inthanon is the highest mountain of Thailand, the gateway to the Himalayas at 2500m.
Day 3: Wat Phra Tat Doi Suthep Temple (magnificent sunrise),
Wat Phra Singh Woramahawihan (golden temple),
Thana Adventures (ATV + White Water Rafting)
Chiang Rai:
Day 4: Private van to Chiang Rai, stop by Akha Farmville (sheep farm 1000m above sea level),
Doi Chang viewpoint for a nice meal
Day 5 (visit the Myanmar/Laos border): Pha Hi Viewpoint & Coffee for breakfast,
Chang Moob Military Viewpoint (Myanmar border), Choui Fong Tea Plantation (for some good tea),
Blue Temple (yes it is blue),
Chiang Rai night market (only have one)
Day 6: Chiang Rai White Temple (yes it is white),
Singha Park (for activities like zipline, cycling)
Day 7: Early trip at 2am to Phu Chi Fah for sunrise tour,
Phu Chi Dao,
Doi Pha Tang
These mountains tower over the Mekong river for a nice hike and views. Highly recommend.
Day 8: Check out of accomodation and return to Chiang Mai and home sweet home.
