Two French Bulldogs' Delicious Persistence
Walking into Two Frenchies, it felt familiar. Was it introduced by a YouTuber? Or did I visit it during my last trip to Penang?
I wasn't sure, but my intuition told me it was worth a try, so I pushed the door open.
On a regular weekday noon, there weren't many customers. The staff led me through a long and narrow alley to a seat in the back half of the restaurant.
Let's have two lunch sets. The accompanying tomato soup was slightly tangy but tasted genuine, and most importantly, it was hot enough to be comforting.
The Croque Monsieur didn't need a fancy presentation; the key was the abundant cheese. The dish arrived with a fragrant aroma, the cheese on top was golden and appealing, and the cheese in the middle was semi-melted, combined with two layers of ham. How could such a sandwich not be delicious? However, this indulgent treat was a bit messy, making the side salad quite useful.
You might say there's nothing special about a grilled cheese and ham sandwich, but the upcoming braised pork proved the restaurant's prowess. The pork was tender yet held together, and the sauce was perfectly seasoned, making it irresistible. The long-grain rice was dry and fragrant, a simple yet solid French home-style dish.
The cake that came with the meal was plain in both appearance and taste. The latte was the same, with no fancy latte art, but the flavor was decent.
Feeling satisfied, I checked into the hotel and settled in before continuing my rich itinerary.
