Tianhetan Park ⛰ This is situated about a 25-45 mins drive on the outskirts of Guiyang City. 🚗 It was obviously built to host a heap of tourists at one time and is now a nice quiet place to come explore and see some waterfalls as an easy day trip from the city. 🗺 The maps are a little hard to read (and very very few) so I would make sure to take a photo at the entrance and pre-plan your route as I ended up almost missing the river cruise and def went in a small extra circle! There are places to buy snacks along the whole way too. 🎫 If you are a foreigner, you can’t buy the ticket through the online mini program, so make sure to visit the Visitor Centre on the right as soon as you enter to buy your tickets (although no English staff). It’s 80rmb and it includes a shuttle bus + entrance + river cave cruise. You can. Pay less without the shuttle if you want to walk the extra 4.5kms into the park but I found there was enough walking through the park. I paid an extra 40rmb to do the zipline which goes over the falls which was nice but a little short. Follow signs for the “docking” which in on your right and up some stairs (and then down) when you first get off the shuttle river cruise. This is hilarious as the cave is full of neon and it’s narrow. 🛶 The cave tunnel is not natural and has been painted in hilarious glow in the dark paint with “glow worms”, “sea creatures” and even “dinosaurs fossils” carved into the walls and the cruise is around 15mins. You then get off the boat and it takes about 30 mins to go through the cave itself. Had your standard neon lights, lots of steps but is a nice cool relief in the midday sun. The shuttle drops you off at some outlet shops like Fila etc, or you can go through an area that is full of restaurants at the end. If you are hungry, I would suggest going to the lady who has set up a noodle stand outside the park entrance near the drop off/pick up point for taxis (just past the random burger joint that plays loud music). 🤩 Overall, there are some nice views, make sure to wear sunscreen and have a hat if it’s sunny as quite a lot of it is exposed.

Tianhetan is probably one of the biggest urban park in Guizhou. Not too far from downtown Guiyang as it will only take you about 30-40minutes either car ride or didi or taxi. It is located 24km in the southwestern suburbs of Guiyang. This is the number 1 GO TO for local and foreign tourist who's visiting Guiyang. Bucket list item number 13 and 14, checked! Wanted to try out to cross a hanging bridge and to try out to do the zip line. I was hesitant at first, but the quest for adventure will be incomplete if i wont do these stuffs. So i did it. 😂❤️🤟 Tianhetan offers both adrenalin-rush activities. Cross that super steep and skinny hanging bridge at the end of the Kongling cave scenic spot. The bridge was really shaky... plus my knees were shaky too... hahaha The zip line is 400meter length of distance from one mountain to the other end. How high it is from the ground? i'm not sure but it was really high. While you're flying, you will see the lushious greenery of the park. It is 24km away from the center of Guiyang city. Tianhetan has the geomorphological characteristics of winding valleys and precipitous ravines, integrating mountains, water, caves, pools, waterfalls, natural bridges, canyons, and hermits into one. In the mountains, there are caves; in the caves, there is water; the caves run through the mountains, and in the empty mountains, one can hear the sound of water. The clear pools give rise to flying waterfalls, densely scattered in various forms. It is known as the miniature landscape of Guizhou's mountains and rivers, acclaimed as 'a unique wonder in central Guizhou' and a symbol of Guiyang's landscape. Tianhetan, here there are mountains and water, waterfalls, rivers, and karst caves. After entering the scenic area, you can take a sightseeing car or a boat to tour the water and dry caves. The water cave, also known as Longtan Cave Water Karst Cave or Kongling Cave, offers a boat tour of the cave's wonders, as if being in a fairyland. The cave is about 1200m long. The boat takes us through this magical and thrilling underground water cave. Due to the rising water level, we can feel a sense of urgency after the boat enters the cave. The still water in the cave is deep and serene, and under the lighting, various scenes appear magical. The millennia-old stalactites, under the reflection of colorful lights, seem even more mysterious and ethereal. After the boat leaves the water cave, it emerges into a suddenly open area, which resembles a valley but is actually a sinkhole. The boat disembarks at the sinkhole pier. Then we can also visit the dry cave. The dry cave, also known as Longtan Cave Dry Karst Cave or Galaxy Palace, is divided into three levels and is nearly 2000m long, taking about more than an hour to explore. From the observation deck at the entrance of the dry cave, one can view the entire sinkhole from the cave's mouth. Inside the dry cave, one passes through the Queen Mother's Crystal Palace, the suspended walkway in the cave, and the Tianhe Old Path Stone Garden. There is a natural stone bridge in the cave - the Naihe Bridge, which is located between two cliffs in the cave. Below the bridge is a deep and unfathomable Yin Pool, a marvel of nature's craftsmanship, awe-inspiring. There are caves in the mountains, water in the caves, the mountains are hollow, and the sound of water can be heard in the empty mountains. The green pools spawn cascading waterfalls, which are densely scattered in various forms. 🏜️ It has the reputation of being a miniature landscape of Guizhou's mountains and rivers and is praised by Gu Mu as 'the best in central Guizhou'! 📝 Tips: Be sure to buy a ticket for the boat tour, which allows you to pass through the karst caves. 🗓Itinerary: Tianhetan is about 30 kilometers away from downtown Guiyang. You can get there by taxi, by tourist bus (there are few buses, about every 30 minutes), or by train directly to Tianhetan Station (there are also few buses). Tianhetan is a very mature scenic spot with complete facilities in all aspects. The ticket price is 80 yuan, which includes the sightseeing bus. Maybe it is the off-season, there were not many tourists when I went there. It is very popular here during the summer vacation. First go to the visitor center, then you have to pass through the gate of Tianhetan Scenic Area, a national square (there are performances on holidays), a commercial street, and then you will come to the sightseeing bus boarding point. The sightseeing bus will drive for about 10 minutes to the cruise ship pier. Tianhetan Scenic Area is mainly divided into two parts: caves and waterfalls. From the cruise ship pier, walk for another 10 minutes passing some snack bars to arrive at the cruise ship boarding point (if it is time for dinner, it is best to buy food and drinks here, there are no shops in the cave afterwards). The cruise ship set off only after it was full of people. We first moved forward in the green river, and then suddenly entered a narrow cave. The space was just enough for the boat to sail. The boat bumped back and forth on the cave wall all the way out of the cave. Suddenly, the view in front of us became clear, and we saw that the boat had come to a lake surrounded by several mountains. There was a high waterfall on the mountain peaks, and then we began the cave hiking trip. The whole journey took about an hour. The karst caves in Tianhetan had heavy traces of artificiality, and sometimes you couldn't even tell which were artificial and which were natural. The lights in the cave were colorful, and there were some uniquely shaped stalactites. Overall, although it was not as good as the Zhijin Cave, Longgong Cave and other karst caves, it was also a good experience for those who had never seen a cave. After exiting the cave, you can choose to take a zipline from a height of dozens of meters to the foot of the mountain, or you can walk down the mountain. On the mountain, you can see the spectacular waterfall below, and then start to visit the waterfall group, crossing the Baibu Bridge made of bluestone slabs. There are more than a dozen waterfalls of different sizes here. The largest one is called "Wolong Waterfall". The waterfall splashes water and is as majestic as a rainbow. The scene is very spectacular. It takes about an hour to see all the waterfalls. Finally, you can go up to the observation deck on the top of the mountain, where you can overlook the panoramic view of Tianhetan. It's like a green curtain with white waterfalls hanging on it. The ecological environment of the entire Tianhetan scenic area is very good, with birdsong and flowers everywhere, and you can see various small animals from time to time. It's a pity that the water quality does not look very good. Finally, return to the sightseeing bus pick-up point and return to the gate. The entire Tianhetan tour time is about 3 to 4 hours. Tianhetan Scenic Area is roughly equivalent to a simplified version of Zhijin Cave + Huangguoshu Park + Huaxi Park. Although it is not quite as good as the others, it can be regarded as a collection of Guizhou's mountains and waters. Most of the tourists here are local residents. It is a good place for leisure and summer vacation in the Guiyang area.
