Awesome structure both inside and out. You don't see architecture like this everyday, even in Europe. Gorgeous stained glass, fabulous stone-tiled floors and breathtaking columns rising to arches sweeping way above your head. The nave alone is an inspiring work of art. This cathedral is immense. Just to walk from the entrance to the nave is over 500 feet. The cross-shaped design adds to the enormity of the interior space. The outside is so awe inspiring it is difficult to find words to amply describe. The gift shop has many beautiful items to keep or gift. Two surprises: a gigantic Lego model of the cathedral being built in the gift shop which looked as though it is at times open for young "builders" to help construct, and the fact that there is a Darth Vader gargoyle up on the cathedral's exterior

The walk to the Jefferson was peaceful and during the fall months, extra beautiful with the leaves changing colors and falling from the trees around the Tidal Basin. In the basement, they have many clean restrooms to use and a small, but stocked gift shop. Grab a free map while there. It shows all the monuments and museums. Highly recommend.

This zoo is incredible! Absolutely beautifully landscaped, great paved trails, inside and outside exhibits, and some of our favorite animals! When we visited, we saw a mama gorilla carrying her baby on her back, two lions sleeping side by side, and a sloth scaling the walls inside a building. Will definitely be back. Tickets are free, but best to reserve online in advance.

Loved it! Free admission and $15 parking (huge lot). Free guided tours every half hour, which lasted about an hour and a half. Very interesting to learn from a pilot tour guide. Did the red flight simulator for $10. Wasn't worth it, but my easily motion sick son wasn't bothered by it at all. Make sure to go up to the observation tower. Ask where to look because we looked in the wrong direction and missed planes flying close. There is a restaurant (Shake Shack), but also a place to eat your packed lunch. Highly recommend.This is a private museum. It is all about Spying, with exhibits and activities to do on that topic. I always loved spy movies and spy novels , so I thought I would enjoy it and definitely did . Even people who aren't into spy novels and movies will enjoy this movie. There was a special exhibit about James Bond. I didn't get to it but I understand it's great if you are a James Bond fan. This exhibit requires a separate admission. The museum is expensive, but it is unique and highly recommended.

What a stunning and eye-popping experience! We're so glad that we went on the tour of the Capitol. The domed ceiling with the apotheosis of Washington by Brumidi is something I could look at for several minutes (but not up close, oh well). The hall of statues with famous figures from each state is perfectly arranged. There's also a mini-museum that you can look around in before you begin your tour, with an elaborate model of the Capitol.

It was a weekend short trip to Washington, D.C. Just want to share some of the places and restaurants that I have visited. Upon arrival, we visited National Mall and Monuments. We visited Lincoln Memorial. It reflect on Lincoln's legacy, admire the Reflecting Pool, and we also visited the Vietnam Veterans Memorial nearby. 📍2 Lincoln Memorial Cir NW, Washington, DC 20037 We then went to Washington Monument. Wen managed to took panoramic views of the city from the observation deck (💰timed tickets required). 📍 2 15th St NW, Washington, DC 20024 We also visited Smithsonian National Museum of American History. We explored the exhibits on American history, including the Star-Spangled Banner and First Ladies’ gowns. 📍1300 Constitution Ave NW, Washington, DC 20560 As I am very into historical buildings and museum, I arranged sometimes to visit National Archives Museum. We viewed the the original Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights. 📍701 Constitution Ave NW, Washington, DC 20408 We also visited United States Capitol and Capitol Visitor Center. We took a tour to the Capitol Building, including the Rotunda and National Statuary Hall (advanced reservations recommended). 📍First St SE, Washington, DC 20004 We also visited Library of Congress. We managed to explore the beautiful Thomas Jefferson Building and view the Gutenberg Bible. 📍101 Independence Ave SE, Washington, DC 20540 We also visited Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. 🌟All Smithsonian Museums have free admission It is a postal museum in the United States, located in Washington, D.C., opposite Union Station. Opened in 1993. The building that houses the museum was built in 1914 and was once the main post office in the Washington area. There were many rocket models and space suit exhibits, as well as many panel exhibits, which were very interesting. There was an exhibit commemorating the release of the Star Wars movie, and the shop was selling stuffed toys of Hello Kitty and space suit versions of teddy bears. Of course, there were also many inexpensive items such as postcards and key chains, so it was fun to choose souvenirs. At the Intrepid in NEW YORK, which I visited previously, which is also called the Sea, Air, and Space Museum, there were experiential events such as exhibits of airplanes deployed outdoors and a tour of the inside of a small submarine, and a special Star Trek exhibition where I entered a transporter booth... it was a very fun experience. This National Air and Space Museum is centered on exhibits... There are displays of actual space suits, shuttle models, and it's a very interesting experience for space and airplane lovers, and it's also educational. On the day trip from New York, we rushed around and didn't have time to relax, so if you also want to see the National Museum of Natural History at the Smithsonian Institution, you should give up on other tourist attractions and just visit the two museums at the Smithsonian Institution (Natural History Museum + Air and Space Museum), and you'll be fine if you hurry around. The Smithsonian Institution has 19 museums and art galleries, so it might be a good idea to stay a night or two and enjoy it a little more.

Georgetown DC is a very charming town with many cute row of houses, restaurants, cobblestone street and fashion shops. If you stay around this area, come explore at night where music bars, traditional taverns came to live. This is also where you can do most shopping in DC and the streets are filled with famous international brands. Foggy Bottom is an area lying west of White house, with Potomac River at its border. This area used to be affected by the influx of European immigrants. Thus, the need of housing/dwelling was the trigger for all the historic housing in the alleys around here. A self-walk around the neighborhood will shed some light on its interesting history. Start off with Foggy Bottom's Grandest House, you can continue the walk to Snow Court-which hosts one of the earliest developments in D.C., with its first houses built by 1858. #foggybottom #washingtondc

Enjoyed a simple weekend in Washington, D.C. I came to specifically visit the National Museum of African American History and it did not disappoint. Coupled with the Amazing food and good vibes, D.C. was definitely a treat for me. I came on the Jet Coach Bus from NYC and the ride was quick and swift.
