I went to Kyoto specifically for this Zen secret place🌿
I thought Sanzen-in Temple was beautiful enough until I went to Tenju-an Temple hidden in #Nanchan-ji Temple - a secret place that made me breathe easier.
If Sanzen-in Temple is a stunning beauty at first sight, #Tenshou-an Temple is like a slowly unfolding ink painting, with Zen hidden in every stroke.
⭐️Here, you can immerse yourself in the real world - changing scenery with every step.
Walking barefoot on the wooden floor, the warm touch makes the whole body calm down.
In the courtyard behind the bamboo fence, moss covers the ancient stones, maple leaves are half red and half green, and koi in the pond are swimming slowly.
Although the area is not large, there is a new view at every step, which is very interesting. The concept of "small but beautiful" is interpreted to the extreme.
An elderly couple sat in the corridor, daydreaming and relaxing along with the wind blowing in the courtyard.

There are few annotations and offline explanations for Japanese temples, so many friends don’t know the structure of the temple after visiting it, and don’t know how to appreciate the dry landscape. They can only sigh that it is beautiful! cure! Including me haha.
⭐️After coming back, I looked up some information and shared it with everyone. You can save it for reference and appreciation during your subsequent trips.

1️⃣Why is there a nunnery in the temple?
Tianshu Temple is the main building of Nanchan Temple.
What is a tower head? The pagoda head is a small temple located around the Great Zen Temple to highlight the temple.
Tianshou Temple was built in 1336 to commemorate the original founder of Nanchan Temple, Monk Daming Guoshi.
Tianshu Temple has a double garden structure:
West side: Dry landscape garden (Yuanmo Courtyard/Abbot East Courtyard) uses sand and stone to create a scene;
East side: Pond and spring courtyard (South Courtyard/Chengxin Courtyard) uses nature to create a poem.
✨Must-see highlights
1️⃣ Diamond-shaped dry landscape
⭐️The ground is paved with finely raked white sand and several stone groups stacked in an orderly manner, which can produce magical power on people's mood.
2️⃣ Maple Mirror Pond
The clear water reflects the red maples and pines, and the blazing colors of the garden in autumn can be called the "ceiling of Kyoto's red leaves."
3️⃣ Moss carpet light and shadow
The three-inch thick moss breathes in the light spots filtered by the maple leaves, and even the shadows have a hazy Zen feeling, and the photos come with a forest filter!
📍Address: Nanzenji Fukuchicho, Sakyo-ku, Kyoto (7-minute walk from Keage Subway Station)
🍁Best season: mid-to-late November (the peak season of red leaves), the moss garden is beautiful all year round
⏰Time: 9:00-17:00 (closes half an hour earlier in winter)

The beauty of Tenjuan is the kind of beauty that "lasts a long time".
After leaving Kyoto, I always think of that moss - it is quiet, but it makes people miss it for the whole year.
