You wouldn’t think Shanghai has a lot of churches. but you would be wrong on the corner of Xujiahui Park you will find a gorgeous 19th century church still in tact overlooking the whole district. The church is not the main attraction. the park is very well maintained with flower beds. open grass areas and plenty of space to do some line dancing or karaoke outside. the streets leading up to the park are also quite beautiful. lined with trees that create a canopy effect which cycling or walking towards the area. I would definitely recommend checking the park out and doing some research on the opening hours of the church as it isn’t open all the time to the public. There are some good electric shops in the area as-well. so if you are looking to get a hood quality laptop or phone definitely check it out as-well. #passionpassport

St. Ignatius Catholic Cathedral in Shanghai’s Xuhui District is a historic landmark and the current seat of the Bishop of Shanghai. Built in the early 1900s, it has survived many rather tumultuous episodes including wars and revolutions. St Ignatius Church is the centre of a range of cultural and scientific facilities established by the Jesuits. Now a few remaining are turned to museum and opened for visit. They have recently renovated the lands in front of the Cathedral all the way to the road, and it is a beautiful parklike area with lots of seating to enjoy the view in all directions. It is just steps from one of the Metro exits at Xujiahui station on Line 11.
