This time, departing from Songshan Airport, I had the chance to experience the newly opened Plaza Premium Lounge. The overall impression can be described as "small yet exquisite," offering the comfort of an international airport lounge while skillfully incorporating Taiwanese local elements. Upon entering the lounge, the warm wooden tones of the space and the view of the tarmac outside immediately catch the eye. Though the space is not large, the seating area is well-designed, featuring single sofas for those seeking solitude and larger seating arrangements for group conversations. What impressed me the most was the food selection, which breaks away from the typical international dishes found in traditional lounges. Instead, it focuses on "Taiwanese flavors": bamboo tube rice served in bamboo containers, aromatic and perfectly cooked, and traditional tofu pudding paired with smooth syrup and peanuts—simple yet comforting. Among the beverage options, the most surprising was the Taiwanese red wine from a local winery in Yilan. Its smooth and delicate taste makes it perfect for a pre-flight sip. Additionally, the lounge offers local drinks like cold brew tea and winter melon tea, providing both domestic and international travelers with an exceptional Taiwanese welcome experience. Overall, the Plaza Premium Lounge at Songshan Airport is a satisfying upgrade. It’s not just a place for travelers to rest but also a miniature showcase of Taiwanese culture, blending local flavors, design, and hospitality seamlessly. The small and beautiful Songshan International Airport has a convenience store on the first floor, some food, a piano lounge area on the first floor, and a free charging area with comfortable sofas.
