Visitors need to purchase tickets to enter Saint George's Castle, with adult tickets priced at €8.5. Upon entering, one is greeted by a statue of Saint George in a niche and a statue of King Manuel I of Portugal in the square. I stayed in Lisbon for 3 days, including 2 full days and 2 half days. Although I didn't enjoy myself to the fullest, I have visited all the highlights. In summary, Lisbon is worth the money, with good food, fun and high cost performance‼ ️ Belem District: Jerónimos Monastery, Monument to the Discoverers, Belém Tower, and Belém Egg Tarts are must-visit spots. They are not far from each other and can be visited on foot. An afternoon is enough to visit them. Note⚠️The monastery is closed every Monday. We happened to be there on a Monday, so we could only take pictures outside. The building is very beautiful. Belem Tower is a good place to watch the sunset. Although the reviews of Belem egg tarts are mixed, I think they are delicious! I recommend experiencing the sunset sailing. It is really romantic to wait for the sunset on the sailing boat. The whole journey takes 1.5 hours, but don't go when it's cold. Come on, don't ask me how I know [Facepalm]. 🔹Old Town: Plan at least a full day to experience the citywalk in the old town, the colorful houses, the undulating slopes, every alley is picturesque, the Pica elevator, and the No. 28 tram are all beautiful scenery along the way. In April and May, you can still see jacaranda trees on the roadside, the purple color is so beautiful! The view is better than other observation decks, and you can also watch the sunset. There are also many peacocks in the castle🦚 🔹Lisbon Surroundings: ✔️Cabo da Roca "The land ends here and the sea begins here", the westernmost point of the European continent, a must-see attraction, but the wind is really strong, don't wear a skirt! Most tourists check in near the stone monument and take photos and then go back, but I I recommend the hiking trail on the other side of the lighthouse. It is less crowded and has beautiful scenery. It is very stunning. ️ ✔️Azenhas do Mar A small town not far from Cape Roca. The town is small but beautiful. You can have dinner here and wait for a sunset. ✖️Hellmouth I kind of regret not coming here. We only planned to visit Cape Roca and Azenhas do Mar that day. I thought I would not have enough time, but after visiting it, I think I should have enough time to come here. 🍽️Food: Maria Catita and Solar 31 de Alfama in the old town are the restaurants where I felt I had no disappointments. Moinho Dom Quixote, not far from Cabo da Roca, has delicious food and great views. I strongly recommend that you come here to eat after visiting Cabo da Roca, but you will need to wait in line for a while. 🏨Accommodation: Dare Lisbon House Great B&B, good location, right near the Santa Justa elevator, next to the internet-famous seafood rice uma, there are many small shops to visit around, you can arrange half a day to buy souvenirs. 🚗Transportation: We used Bolt to take a taxi the whole way. I have summarized the plans and recommendations that I actually used, so I hope you will use it as a reference when you go to Lisbon! 🔸Places to buy Purchase the Lisboa card at the tourist counter after arriving in Lisbon. Even if you purchase it online, you must exchange it, so I recommend purchasing it locally from the beginning. Please note that the opening hours vary depending on the location. Since the opening hours are long, it is better to purchase it as soon as you arrive if you are using the airport. The time is not counted until you start using it, so I thought it was a good idea to purchase it early. Since I did not use the airport, I purchased it at Commerce Square, but I went there just to purchase it when it opened.... 🔸My 24-hour plan From here, I will tell you the places I actually visited using the Lisboa card. All the facilities listed here are free with the Lisboa card (as of January 2025). 🚩Start from 8:20 I started using the Lisboa card on the metro. The 24-hour start time is 9:30am. We head to our destination from the hostel where we are staying. 🚩9:30am ~ Mosteiro dos Jerónimos First, we headed to the Jerónimos Monastery, which is said to be crowded, at opening time. This is a World Heritage Site. It opens at 9:30am and we arrived at exactly 9:30am. We waited in line for about 30 minutes before we could enter. The waiting line is divided into "Lisboa Card and Admission Ticket" and "Tour". The left side was for the Lisboa Card (the long and slow line is more likely to be for the Lisboa Card). There should be a sign at the front of the line, so be sure to check it before lining up. The inside was larger than I expected. It took about 45 minutes to walk around leisurely. I think you'll be satisfied with 30 minutes. On September 20, 2024, we visited the "Castle of St. George" (also known as the "Castle of St. Jorge") in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. According to the "homework" before the trip: the first fortress on the top of the mountain in Lisbon was built in the 2nd century BC; in 1147, Alfonso I, with the help of the Second Crusade, captured the castle and the city of Lisbon from the Moors. In 1255, Lisbon became the capital of the kingdom of Portugal and Europe, and the castle became the royal palace. Around 1300, Dinesh I carried out restoration. In the late 14th century, the castle was dedicated to St. George by King John I, who was married to the English princess Philippa of Lancaster. Between 1373 and 1375, Ferdinand I built new walls around Lisbon. In 1498, Manuel I received and celebrated the return of the seafaring hero Vasco da Gama from his discovery of the sea route to India in this castle. The castle was renovated between 1373 and 1375 and has 77 towers and a circumference of 5,400 meters. The castle and the city resisted several attacks by the Castilian army in the 14th century. In 1755, the terrible Lisbon earthquake severely damaged the castle. The castle's neglect ended in the 1940s, when it underwent extensive restoration.
