We were thinking of visiting Japan again in Jan 2024 (for the fifth time now), and did our research extensively to also save some time and cost from transportation for our trip. We finally decided on visiting Nikko as one of first stop for our Jan 2024 Japan trip and we were so glad we did. We booked the Nikko area pass which gave us 4 days of unlimited travel within the designated area. So we maximized the pass and explored Nikko. We visited the main attractions in Nikko (see images) and tried some of their local delicacies. Getting around Nikko wasn’t difficult too. The main point is to take note of bus timetables to plan your daily trip and you’ll be fine.
