Mae Moh Mine, Lampang Province, in addition to the beauty of nature and winter flowers, there are also highlight activities that provide knowledge about energy such as the "Lignite Center Museum" that tells the history of Mae Moh Mine and the origin of lignite coal used to generate electricity for Thailand. Inside the building, there are 7 zones:
🔸 Zone 1 Temporary Exhibition and Exhibition in Honor of His Majesty King Prajadhipok, showcasing the important royal projects of King Prajadhipok in the field of energy, who pioneered the energy sector in Thailand.
🔸 Zone 2 Universe, Earth, and Coal From the major explosion, it led to the gathering of a huge amount of matter and energy, becoming stars, galaxies, and "Earth". This evolution is what created the natural resource, which is "coal".
🔸 Zone 3 From the water and land, Mae Moh Basin is an important source of lignite coal in Thailand. Many types of ancient fossils are evidence for studying the geological changes in this area.
🔸 Zone 4 Energy driving Thailand Mae Moh Power Plant was established in an area with the most abundant coal resources in Thailand. Mae Moh Power Plant is therefore an important power generation base.
🔸 Zone 5, Heading towards the future, exhibits electricity, producing various types of fuels using different technologies to produce electricity, which affects production costs. Therefore, it is necessary to manage fuel energy to create sustainability and stability.
🔸 Zone 6, Turning Points in the World and Basic Science, exhibits the evolution and discovery of electricity from static electricity to the development of electricity that can be used in everyday life.
🔸 Zone 7, Mae Moh and communities living together sustainably, various activities with the community to develop the surrounding community.
There is also a 4D movie theater presenting stories of mining, electricity production, and environmental care in the form of cartoon animations.
The Lignite Study Center Museum is located in the Mae Moh Power Plant area, Mae Moh District, Lampang Province.
Open for admission free of charge.
