Located directly south of Gwanghwamun in Korea, the name itself carries a special meaning. We drove up to about 80% of the way to the observatory and parked at the designated parking lot. Here's a tip! While vehicles can access the summit, the parking spaces there are reserved for staff. It's safer and more convenient for general visitors to park at the observatory parking lot and walk up the stairs. As you climb the stairs, you'll encounter various attractions such as a fountain shaped like the Korean Peninsula, pinwheel decorations, and a statue of independence activist Ahn Jung-geun. The closer you get to the observatory, the more excitement builds. Although Jeongnamjin Observatory usually charges an admission fee, it is currently free due to remodeling! Regular Admission Fees: Adults: 2,000 KRW / Teenagers & Soldiers: 1,500 KRW / Children: 1,000 KRW Free Admission for: Jangheung residents, children under 7, seniors over 65, national merit recipients, and individuals with disabilities. #summervacay So Cheongwansan? Yeah, she shows up. I went in thinking it’d be a casual little hike, wrong. It starts off all peaceful, then bam, you’re climbing and sweating and wondering why you ever left your bed. 😂 But honestly? It’s kind of perfect. The trail’s got this wild, untamed vibe with huge rock formations and trees doing their twisty, ancient tree thing. You’ll hit a few steep spots that’ll make your thighs cry, but then the views hit even harder. The summit? Chef’s kiss. Full 360 views of the sea, mountains, sky, just endless. I could’ve sat up there for hours pretending I was in some nature documentary. Bring water. Lots of it. And maybe a towel, ‘cause wow, it gets real. It’s not an easy breezy stroll, but if you’re into hikes that make you feel alive (and mildly destroyed in the best way), Cheongwansan delivers. 10/10 would hike again. Maybe with knee support next time.

And if you really want to make a weekend of it, they even have glamping there! Since it's late April right now, you'll be right in the middle of all the beautiful spring blooms. You can wander through the different themed gardens, just enjoying the peace and quiet and appreciating how lovely everything is.
