🏛 Hierapolis & Amphitheater, where the breath of ancient Rome lives on
#EuropeanTravel
Hierapolis, which is spread out behind the travertine slabs of Pamukkale, seems like a city where time has stopped. The amphitheater built in the 2nd century BC was large enough to accommodate over 10,000 people, and the terraced seating area still remains, which is amazing. If you go up, you can see Pamukkale behind you at a glance, which is even more beautiful. Walking through the ruins shining under the sunlight, you feel like you are walking through the ancient Roman era. It would be a shame to leave this place after seeing only the travertine slabs and hot springs, so I highly recommend you visit!✨

Hierapolis, the ancient city wonder of Türkiye
Hierapolis is one of Türkiye's most fascinating ancient cities, located near the famous Pamukkale, with magnificent Roman ruins and legendary thermal springs. This city not only witnessed the glory of ancient Greece and the Roman Empire, but also became a United Nations World Cultural and Natural Heritage with its unique natural wonders.
History of Hierapolis
The city was founded around the 2nd century BC by the Kingdom of Pergamon and later became an important city in the Roman Empire. Because it is located in a geothermal hot spring area, Hierapolis became the most famous sanatorium at the time, attracting nobles and patients from all over the world for treatment. The Romans even built many baths, temples, theaters and tombs, making this a prosperous hot spring city.
Hierapolis Theatre 🎭
The well-preserved marble theater can accommodate about 12,000 people and has exquisite stone carvings. You can still feel the atmosphere of watching performances in the past.
If you come to Türkiye, you must not miss Hierapolis. It is not only a paradise for archaeology enthusiasts, but also a rare hot spring ruins city in the world, allowing you to experience the charm of ancient civilization and nature at the same time!

Ancient theatre
One of a few ancient theatres preserved in such a good condition (and was renovated as well of course) that we can still observe with our own eyes.
A great place to go for your important event celebration. Can you imagine that theatre existed 2 thousand years ago and nowadays you can be there? Unbelievable. Just sit there and pretend you can see gladiators fighting in front of you. Or what else could have been happening on that stage?
