There is such a low-key ancient town hidden in Shanghai - Jinze Ancient Town
🌈🌈Shanghai actually has such a low-key ancient town hidden in it. It is dotted with ancient bridges from the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. It is known as the "First Bridge Town in Jiangnan" and the "Ancient Bridge Museum"!
⭐It is the ancient town of Jinze located in Qingpu District, Shanghai. It is adjacent to Taipu River and backed by Dianshan Lake to the north. It is the western gate for Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces to enter Shanghai, and it is also the only town in Shanghai that borders Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces. Here, the ancient bridge was built because of water, and the water town prospered because of the bridge.
📖According to the "Kanazawa Chronicles", in ancient times, Kanazawa had "one tower, six temples, thirteen lanes, and forty-two rainbow bridges". The ancient town has a long history. It is said that it flourished in the Song Dynasty and the Yuan Dynasty. It was announced as the sixth batch of China's famous historical and cultural towns in 2014.
🏠Today, the ancient town of Jinze still preserves seven ancient bridges intact, namely Yingxiang Bridge, Ruyi Bridge, Fangsheng Bridge, Puji Bridge, Tianwang Bridge, Wan'an Bridge and Linlao Bridge.
🏠Some of these bridges were built during the Song Dynasty, some during the Yuan Dynasty, and the youngest was built during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Although they have gone through thousands of years of baptism, they can still be used normally today, which makes people admire the excellent quality of ancient engineering.
❤️Puji Bridge:
⚪The oldest stone arch bridge in Shanghai and also the most impressive bridge. It was built in the Song Dynasty (1267) using purple Wukang stone, and is commonly known as the "Purple Stone Bridge". Because it uses a curved arch, the slope is gentle, the guardrails are low and undecorated, presenting a sense of simplicity and elegance.
❤️Yingxiang Bridge:
⚪First built in the Yuan Dynasty (1335-1340), it is a five-span continuous simply supported beam bridge with a mixed structure of blue bricks, water-ground square bricks, nanmu and bluestone. It not only has extremely high historical, artistic and scientific value, but is also called the ancestor of the "continuous simply supported" beam bridge by contemporary bridge experts.
❤️The buildings in the entire ancient town are mostly white walls and blue bricks. Although they are a bit shabby, they are full of vicissitudes. Walking on the bluestone road, there is none of the commercial hustle and bustle of the ancient towns in the south of the Yangtze River, only tranquility and simplicity remain.
🎢Standing on the ancient bridge, wandering in the beautiful scenery of the Jiangnan water town, watching the cruise ship slowly passing by under my feet, I am looking at the scenery on the bridge, and the people on the boat are looking at me. This picture is really vivid.
🕌In addition to the ancient bridge, there is also a Yihao Zen Temple, which was built in the Southern Song Dynasty, flourished in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and became a famous Jiangnan Buddhist temple in the Yuan Dynasty. The main buildings include the Great Mountain Gate, Hejing Street, Heavenly King Hall, Main Hall, Amitabha Hall, Mandarin Duck Hall, Study Room, Sutra Room, Abbot's Temple, Four Courtyard Halls, and the New Eight Scenic Spots.
🔥If you have time on the weekend, I recommend you to go to this quaint and low-key ancient town, take a walk, have a look, wander around the Jinze Water Town, admire the ancient bridges of the Four Dynasties, and have a chat with the thousand years of time!
