The Spa in Chiang Mai is so beautiful that I started to relax the moment I stepped into the courtyard
In a Spa in Chiang Mai, I took so many photos, all because it's too attractive! Fah Lanna Spa is quite famous in Chiang Mai, and it was once a filming location for the movie 'Lost in Thailand' at their Old City branch.
We chose their new branch on Nimman Road, which has a better environment. The buildings are round and interesting with a sense of design. Everywhere you look, there are bamboos. Bamboo is used for the fences, furniture, decorations, and utensils, and it is extensively used in the architecture, giving a sense of quiet and elegant beauty. The yard is planted with a large number of trees, flowers, and herbal plants native to Northern Thailand.
💆 I chose the authentic Thai traditional massage. Thai massage is quite intense, and the masseuse uses their arms, legs, and body weight to stretch and roll press, stimulating the muscles of the person being massaged.
Having a Thai massage is like doing a session of passive yoga. With the help of the masseuse, you move the main joints of the body, and you may hear a cracking sound when rotating. Don't be nervous, as tension will make your body stiffer. Coordinating with your breathing will make it more comfortable.
A two-hour Spa session relaxes the mind and body, soothes the muscles, enhances physical flexibility, helps promote blood circulation, and accelerates metabolism.
📃 Before the massage, you need to fill out a simple health questionnaire, where you can indicate areas that should not be touched and areas that need more attention. Communication is key for better service.
🍵 Before starting, you will be offered a welcome drink of chilled floral fruit tea. After the session, they serve hot ginger tea and some small snacks.
👛 In Thailand, Spas offer great value for money. The price of the services includes tax, and no service charge is added. If you are satisfied with the experience, you can give a discretionary tip to the masseuse. Tips start from 20 Thai Baht and there is no upper limit. You can give as you see fit, but tips should be in paper money, not coins. It's good to have some change on hand when traveling, as being happy is the most important thing.
