This Chongqing hotel is a MUST-STAY!!!
DoubleTree by Hilton Chongqing Jiafa: A Comfortable Choice for Your Mountain City Trip
Room Experience
I opted for a Deluxe King Room on the 20th floor, approximately 40 square meters. Each guest room floor features a U-shaped, single-sided layout, with elevators and linen rooms centrally located to minimize disturbance between rooms. The soundproofing within the rooms is good, but the floor-to-ceiling windows offer less sound insulation. Street-facing rooms may experience some traffic noise, so light sleepers might prefer north- or east-facing rooms.
The bathroom has a closed design with a wooden sliding door and a practical layout. It features separate wet and dry areas, a separate toilet, a bathtub, and a scale. The room lighting is well-designed and soft, with bedside controls for lights, power outlets, and USB charging ports. Storage is ample, including a shoe cabinet, wardrobe, safe, and bathrobes.
However, there's room for improvement in the quality and maintenance of some room hardware. For example, the wardrobe doors creaked when opened and closed, the showerhead holder was wobbly, and the toilet flush button was loose. Also, the floor-to-ceiling curtains require manual operation. For a business-oriented hotel, the desk design is relatively basic.
Dining Experience
The buffet breakfast is served on the fourth floor in the all-day dining restaurant, which also offers lunch and dinner. The Jiayuexuan Chinese Restaurant is on the third floor, and the Executive Lounge is on the 23rd. The food and beverage selection is extensive, catering to diverse tastes, and incorporates many local Sichuan and Chongqing specialties, such as noodles and wontons. However, the restaurant chairs are quite heavy, creating considerable noise when guests sit down or staff rearrange them.
I also enjoyed the vibrant culinary scene around the hotel. Even at 10 PM, the street food scene downstairs was bustling with activity. After checking in, I had hot pot at a roadside stall—affordable and delicious.
Convenient Transportation
The hotel is right next to Gongmao Station on Chongqing Subway Line 3, about 300 meters from Exit 2, a 5-minute walk. Popular attractions like Jiefangbei and Guanyinqiao, as well as transportation hubs, are generally within 30 minutes' reach, making it very convenient.
Surrounding Amenities
The hotel is in the heart of the Nanping business district, surrounded by numerous shops, from shopping malls to food streets. There are Sichuan and Chongqing restaurants like Hanren Night Market, chain restaurants like Starbucks, and entertainment venues like cinemas and massage spas.
Other Hotel Highlights
The hotel has a pleasant environment, comprehensive facilities, and excellent service. I was lucky enough to be upgraded to a spacious Deluxe Suite. The Executive Lounge is a relaxing space to enjoy coffee, snacks, and the bustling cityscape of Chongqing.
Overall, my stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Chongqing Jiafa was quite positive. I was satisfied with the hotel's facilities and services, as well as the convenient transportation, dining, and entertainment options nearby. If I return to Chongqing, this hotel would be a great choice.
🧹Soundproofing/Cleanliness: Good soundproofing within the rooms, and good hygiene throughout the hotel, both in public areas and guest rooms.
🏘️Room Type/Layout: The Deluxe King Room has a practical layout, and the U-shaped single-sided floor plan minimizes disturbance between rooms.
