It was a bare-chested marathon held on January 1st at the Expo Science Park with about 5,000 marathoners... I took a quick tour of Hanbat Arboretum and ran to this incredible event. Boys and girls are coming in droves to receive medals. The bare-chested marathon event was wrapping up with a grand awards ceremony... At the plaza park, tteokguk (rice cake soup) was being shared by companies. I visited the Shinsegae Department Store that opened in Daejeon this year!! There were so many places to shop, from famous brands to cheap brands. This is an event for the game Eternal Return, which is officially recognized as an e-sports event in Korea. The finals of every season are held here, and recently there have been stage events hosted by users. The Lumia Night Market, where users sell goods, is so popular that some people stay up all night, and you cannot enter unless you get a serial number. (You can enter without a serial number after 3 p.m., but most people have already left.) *Since February, issuing serial numbers with email addresses has been discontinued, and you will need a Korean phone number (010-) or a KakaoTalk account. I took the AREX from Incheon Airport to Seoul Station, then took the KTX to Daejeon Station. (The July ERM in the photo was a little different because I stayed at a friend's house in Korea, but that's the basic route.) ERM is a tournament for the game Eternal Return, which is held every season. It also holds an official user event called Lumia Night Market (루미아야시장). *You need a numbered ticket to enter Lumia Night Market, and until March, only Korean phone numbers starting with 010 could issue numbered tickets, but from July, they can also be issued with email addresses, so people from overseas can now enter. By the way, Lumia Night Market is so popular that even though it opens at 10, there are people who line up from 7am onwards. I arrived before 9am, and my numbered ticket number was in the 180s. (I think numbered tickets were available for entry around 12pm.) If you are participating in cosplay, there are lockers inside the venue, so you can enter before the 10am opening. (I don't participate in cosplay, so I don't know the detailed rules. Sorry.) For some reason, there was no Eternal Return food truck in July, but there was another event held nearby, and there was a convenience store just a short walk away, so it wasn't that inconvenient. Moreover, since it's Ota, everyone seems to buy Seishindo bread in advance (at the station, etc.). That's impressive. As I'll explain later, there is Seishindo bread near the hotel I usually stay at. (There is also a convenience store.) The event ends at 7pm, but the tournament matches usually drag on, so you should think of it as being after 8pm. I don't know of any ERMs that ended on time... After the final day of ERM, you can remove the posters that are posted at the venue and take them home. I wonder if it's from July? I don't think it was there in March. I took home a banner from the Lumia Night Market booth. The players who participated in ERM came to remove the large posters of their representative characters. It's very convenient that Lotte City Hotel Daejeon is within walking distance even late at night. I think you can check in by machine. However, I think you need to show your passport the first time, so it might be safer to go to the counter. I always skip breakfast, but I guess it's delicious because it's Lotte... I heard it's pretty popular... I'd like to try it once if I have the time. After checking in at the hotel, I leave my luggage and always go to the convenience store outside or Seishindo Bakery to buy dinner. Seishindo Bakery used to be across the street (in March), but since the facility is under construction (demolition?), a special sales counter was set up right next to the hotel and in the lobby in July. The special sales counter in the hotel sells nice souvenirs for about 2,000 yen, so I recommend it. There are also two bottles of water provided every time. Even if you stay multiple nights, they always replenish the two toiletries (of course). I brought my own toothbrush, so I never ran out of amenities. I always check out using my smartphone. It's very convenient. So, I've already been to ERM twice, and I'm planning to go again in October. It's probably because the official service has just started and there are a lot of people (the Ansan event in September was apparently a great success), so I'm a little worried about how things will change, but I'm looking forward to it.
