Surrey is more than just a suburb of Vancouver—it’s a dynamic, multicultural city with deep community roots and some of the most peaceful green escapes in British Columbia. My time here was a refreshing mix of urban comfort and natural discovery.
I began at Bear Creek Park, a lush, family-friendly space with trails, gardens, and a miniature train that brought a playful energy to the morning. The walking paths led me past bubbling creeks and blooming rhododendrons—a perfect start for nature lovers.
In the heart of the city, Surrey Central buzzed with life. I stopped by Surrey Civic Plaza, where modern architecture, community events, and food trucks made for a lively and photogenic setting. Nearby, Surrey Art Gallery surprised me with innovative contemporary exhibits, many reflecting local and Indigenous voices.
What really stood out was the warmth of Surrey’s diverse communities. I explored Punjabi Market, sampled freshly baked naan from a local tandoor, and chatted with vendors at Guildford Town Centre—where cultures and cuisines from around the world meet under one roof.
Best Time to Visit: May to September, when outdoor spaces and festivals are in full swing.
