Shenzhen! The Affordable Hotel My Boyfriend and I Have Stayed at More Than 10 Times
Courtyard by Marriott Shenzhen Bao'an: A Cost-Effective Choice
I recently embarked on my Marriott Bonvoy journey, and my first stop was the Courtyard by Marriott Shenzhen Bao'an. This stay left a lasting impression.
✅Soundproofing/Cleanliness: I checked in close to 11 PM, and the hotel kindly upgraded me to an executive room on the 28th floor. The soundproofing was superb; even though the hotel is located on a busy road, I couldn't hear any traffic noise. It outperformed the InterContinental Shenzhen Bao'an in this aspect. The room was clean and tidy, making for a comfortable stay.
🏘️Room Type/Layout: The layout of the executive room was well-designed. I particularly liked the hallway design at the entrance, similar to the Kempinski Hotel Shenzhen. The spacious room featured a large, comfortable sofa with stools, providing ample seating for meals – a thoughtful touch.
🛌Amenities/Facilities: The room was equipped with a 55-inch Samsung TV with screen mirroring capabilities, which was convenient. While there wasn't a smart toilet or electric curtains, the overall facilities met my needs. The minibar had eight drinks, but they were not complimentary. The hotel also offered robot service and a self-service laundry room, which were very practical. The gym was well-equipped, a definite advantage compared to other hotels in the same category. It surpassed the gyms at Atour S, Atour, Orange Crystal, Mercure, and CitiGO hotels I've stayed at.
💰Cost Per Person: Thanks to a promotion and welcome points, the price was less than CNY 400, offering exceptional value.
💗Other Tips:
- Service and Benefits: The hotel staff was very generous. They proactively reserved an executive suite for me upon check-in without much discussion, instantly enhancing my experience. The check-in process was efficient and smooth, and the staff was friendly.
- Dining Experience: Breakfast was served until 10:30 AM and offered a good variety. The fried rice noodles and fried rice were delicious, and the noodle station allowed you to customize your bowl with vegetables, meatballs, and lean meat. The breakfast area was spacious, even larger than the one at the InterContinental. However, when I went for breakfast around 10 AM, the hot dishes were cold, there wasn't much meat left, and the yogurt quality was similar to that of JI Hotel and Hanting Hotel.
- Surrounding Amenities: A shopping mall is located just across the street, offering a wide range of dining, entertainment, and movie options. The parking lot was large, with two underground levels, so parking wasn't a concern even when the hotel was fully booked.
- Transportation: The hotel's location has some limitations. Public transportation isn't readily available, with the nearest subway station about 5 km away, requiring a drive around the overpass. However, the hotel provides a free airport shuttle, which is convenient for business travelers.
- Noise: Although the hotel informed me about nearby construction, I was still woken up by the noise around 7-8 AM on a weekend, even on the 29th floor, the highest level. Providing earplugs or further improving the soundproofing windows would make the experience even better. Overall, this hotel offers great value, and I would likely choose to stay here again on my next trip to Shenzhen.
