Guide | Cyprus 🇨🇾Paphos's jewel-like sea
#AprilGoodDestinations2025
The sea in Cyprus is as clear as the eyes, and the emerald blue is as transparent as Tiffany's 90% transparency. Friends who love the sea must not miss it. Even if you have seen the sea countless times, you will still be amazed.
Overview of South Cyprus: A member of the European Union, Greek-speaking, belonging to the Eurozone (visa-free for Northern Cyprus, descendants of Turkey), a member of the Commonwealth, a backyard for the British, with British people with various accents everywhere.
Visa: For non-Schengen countries, Chinese citizens need a visa, but those with a Schengen visa or EU residence permit are exempt from the visa requirement.
Transportation: Taxi prices are relatively expensive compared to local prices. A taxi from the airport to Alykes Beach area: bolt 35 Euros (don’t call the taxi stands outside the airport, they make a profit from the price difference).
Accommodation: We stayed in the Alykes Beach area. The archaeological park is nearby, which I think is quite convenient. I recommend it!
Pafos Travel Guide:
The following itinerary can be completed in two days (one day is a bit tight because Cyprus is too hot, it is better to take a proper rest in the afternoon)
a. Pafos Old Town (take a taxi from Alykes for 12 Euros)
b. Archaeological Museum (free)
c. Heritage Park (9 Euros)
d. Glass bottom sea trip (90 minutes, 15 euros per person, you can swim in the sea for about 10 minutes, remember to warm up before going into the sea), you can also choose a longer time, such as going to the blue lagoon for about 3-4 hours. We were a little seasick, so we chose the shortest time
e. Watch the sunset at Alykes Beach
f. We also caught up with the Aphrodite Cultural Festival and watched Lady of the Camellias accompanied by the sound of waves, just to show off our taste for culture.
Food: Mainly traditional Greek barbecue, chicken skewers, pork skewers, seafood are all delicious, but don't choose lamb chops, they are expensive and taste average, not as good as Greek lamb skewers. In addition, there are also Chinese food, American fast food, etc.
I ate some and I recommend three to you:
a. Alykes, a small shop, food time
b. A small shop in the old town of Pafos: Souvlakia Mixalos (10 minutes walk from the museum)
c. Breakfast shop: Pingouino, great view, delicious food, super affordable, full English breakfast is only 7.5 euros, but I see that the locals basically just drink a cup of coffee and chat while eating, so pleasant
Nightlife: There are many bars, but they don't seem to be of high quality.
