Fahua Temple is one of the largest and earliest Buddhist temples in Jiaodong Peninsula. It is also the only Buddhist temple in the area. It was built by Zhang Baogao, a Silla native, in 824 AD. Because the first batch of monks invited to chant scriptures when the temple was built belonged to the Tiantai sect and chanted the Lotus Sutra, the temple was named Fahua Temple. The ancient temple is hidden in the green trees and beautiful forests, surrounded by mountains and peaks, facing Shidao Bay, with green mountains and clear waters, and beautiful scenery. It was first built in the Tang Dynasty and is a Buddhist temple that is connected with the friendship between China, Japan and South Korea.
