The bald cypress trees beside the timber storage pond had turned yellow, and they shone brightly in the sunlight. Every time I arrive in Checheng, I take a walk by the pool first. Checheng was once famous for its logging industry. The lakeside trail and the bicycle path along the Shuili River are all original wooden plank roads. There is a visitor center for consultation. Due to its small area, the famous attractions include: Checheng Railway Station, Old Street, Wood Industry Exhibition Hall, Wood Storage Pool, Mingtan Reservoir... It only takes 3 hours to go around the circle. We went to the town store for a picnic to do some shopping, sat at wooden tables and chairs looking at the mountains and the blue sky, and tasted the delicious food we bought... Life can be so simple and easy; it happened to be a weekend holiday, and there were street performers performing in the car square, and an open-air music feast unfolded before our eyes. If you have enough time, you can also ride along the bicycle path of Shuili Creek to Shuili. Checheng Railway Station is the terminus of the "Jiji Railway Branch Line". It was built during the Japanese colonial era and is 29.7 kilometers long. It can be said to be the "longest" route among the Taiwan Railway branch lines. Starting in 1916, the Puli Sugar Factory used carts to transport sugar to Checheng Station, and then shipped the produced sugar out. As a result, there were many carts parked in front of Checheng Station, just like a "parking lot". Some people called it "Checheng" in the Hokkien pronunciation, hence the name.

The eagle and bear installation art created by the hosts of the variety show "Play Big" is located in the park next to the Checheng Wood Industry Exhibition Hall. The Linbandao Experience Factory has dedicated staff to teach how to make wooden chairs, tables, etc., with a wide variety of products for people to choose from. The park is very large, with plenty to eat and do. The decorations inside Cardboard King are also very beautiful. If you spend 100 yuan, you can ride a paper train for free. The path is mostly flat, making it an easy ride or walk. Along the way, there are pavilions where you can rest and enjoy views of the river, mountains, flowers, birds, and even playful monkeys. This classic leisure route is perfect for families to enjoy a weekend cycling trip while taking in the riverside scenery. The path ends near the Shuili Market, where you can try popular snacks like Shuili meatballs. For those looking to explore more of Shuili, beyond the bike path and its scenic river views, there are nearby attractions such as Ming Tan Reservoir, Shuiyun Bridge, and Shuili Snake Kiln. These spots offer a glimpse into the vibrant charm of this mountain town.

Checheng in Nantou is one of the famous old streets in Taiwan. It used to be the distribution center for Nantou's lumber. Although it has been transformed now, it also retains many Japanese-style buildings. Along with the old street, antique is a perfect description! On display in the square is a 1:1 replica of the railway scene layout artwork of the Tengyun, the first steam train in Taiwan’s railway history in the 13th year of Guangxu’s reign in the Qing Dynasty (1888).
