Terrassa's Historic Religious Site
Mediterranean Coast Tour of Spain ~ Barcelona (Region)
The Church of Sant Pere is part of the monumental complex of the Egara Cathedral, a historic religious site that includes four impressive architectural structures. Its history spans over 2,500 years, covering various periods such as the Iberian era, Catholicism, Byzantine, Visigothic, Roman, and the modern era when it was reclaimed by the Catholic Church. This site now serves as a museum where visitors can admire remarkable Roman ruins, some of Europe's most significant ancient frescoes, and several spectacular altarpieces. It is the only ancient Mediterranean cathedral complex that has preserved its painted decorations.

Greek-style horseshoe-shaped ancient church
Mediterranean Coast Tour of Spain ~ Barcelona (Region)
The Church of Sant Miquel is the only one among the three churches in this monumental complex that has preserved its original 9th to 10th-century floor plan. It features a square layout with a Greek cross and a horseshoe-shaped apse that is polygonal on the exterior. The central dome is supported by eight columns, whose capitals are repurposed Roman and Visigothic designs. Beneath the apse lies the crypt of Saint Celerinus, which includes a small chapel with a trefoil apse. The old entrance has been sealed with wooden planks, and the current door was opened in the 17th century. The structure follows a Romanesque style, alternating rows of stone and brick. The central window of the apse is a brick-built cross arch.
The apse preserves pre-Romanesque frescoes depicting Christ surrounded by angels, with the Twelve Apostles below.

Beautiful Castle Museum
Mediterranean Coast Tour of Spain ~ Barcelona (Region)
Enjoy the stunning views of Vallparadis Park, featuring remarkable archaeological works ranging from the Neolithic era to modern times. This castle, built in 860 AD, is surrounded by a moat and boasts a large central tower, along with remnants of a church. It preserves Romanesque architecture, caves, and nearby structures, making it a highly recommended place to visit.
Constructed in the 12th century, the building retains the structure of old fortifications, including moats on the north, east, and south sides, walls reinforced with square towers, and the remains of a square tower occupying the central space of the building. Between the 14th and 15th centuries, it ceased to be a castle and was transformed into the monastery of San Jaume Vallparadis.
