If you want to learn more about Yushan, come to the Tatajia Visitor Center first!
The Tatajia Visitor Center is located at an altitude of 2,610 meters, at the junction of Provincial Highways 18 and 21. There is a parking lot and you can drive there, or you can hike to the nearby Lulin Mountain, Linzhi Mountain, Dongpu Mountain and Yushan trailheads, and then have a cup of coffee at the Tatajia Visitor Center.
Before entering the visitor center, you will see the statue of the Bunun warrior, the stone cup totem, and the huge tree in front of the garden. The Tatajia Visitor Center is a two-story building. The first floor has an audio-visual room, a service desk, and theme exhibitions; the second floor has exhibition explanations: Yushan’s medium and high altitude ecology, topography and geology, Bunun and Tsou culture, Yushan’s history, etc., which can help you better understand Yushan’s natural ecology.
On the other side of the second floor is a restaurant where you can take a break, eat, or drink coffee. It is a good place to sit and enjoy the cool breeze when you are tired from climbing. You can also check out the latest real-time images of Yushan, which is very important for those who want to climb Yushan.
