I visited the Iwate Bank Red Brick Building, a historical structure located on Nakanohashi Street in Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture 🧱 Originally built as the headquarters of Morioka Bank, the building was designed by the architectural firm Tetsuno-Kasai, led by Tatsuno Kingo, famous for designing Tokyo Station, and Kasai Banji, who was from Morioka. It is the only surviving work of Tatsuno Kingo in the Tohoku region 🤍 The building is a two-story red brick structure with a Renaissance-style exterior, featuring white granite bands and a dome roof. Its majestic design is truly stunning 🕊️ Unfortunately, I couldn’t go inside as it was closed on Tuesday 😢. On other days, you can visit between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM for an admission fee of 300 yen ✨

A half-day tour of Morioka city. The reason why I chose to walk around Morioka city is because the ticket price for the Tohoku region of JRpass is high. If you come from Tokyo, you want to take a longer trip to get your money's worth. Morioka city happens to have a one-day bus pass for 350 yen. If you are tired or pressed for time, you can take the tour bus back to the station. Finally, there is a building I like, the "Iwate Bank Red Renga Building", and I want to take a look at this red historic building! The old Morioka Bank main building, built in 1911, was designed and built by the same architect as Tokyo Station. The two-story building is divided into two parts: the Iwate Bank free area and the Morioka Bank 300 yen admission area. The paid area took a lot of manpower and material resources to restore to its old facilities and put up exhibits, such as the old safe, reception room, branch manager's office and conference room. The free area is the main building, the first floor lobby, and the old bank counter. Although we don't understand Japanese, we have fully felt the majestic red brick exterior of the building and the delicate ancient culture presented inside when visiting the free area.
