For this trip, I chose to depart from Osaka and head to Kotohira-gu Shrine, which is hailed as a must-visit shrine for Japanese people at least once in their lifetime. Known for its magnificent architecture and endless stairs, this shrine became one of the biggest challenges of our journey. Early in the morning, we took a train from Osaka to Kotohira, enjoying the beautiful rural scenery and small towns along the way. The train journey took about two hours, filling us with anticipation. Upon arriving at Kotohira Station, the cool air refreshed us, preparing us for the upcoming challenge. From Kotohira Station, we followed the signs to Kotohira-gu Shrine. Along the way, local shops sold specialties that tempted me to stop and taste some delicious snacks. Soon, we reached the entrance of Kotohira-gu Shrine and saw a staircase leading up the mountain, feeling both excited and nervous. Kotohira-gu Shrine has a total of 1,368 steps, making this challenge anything but simple. With each step, we could see the beautiful natural scenery around us and pilgrims from all over, all striving for the same goal. The stairs were lined with trees, and sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting dappled shadows, making the whole process poetic. As we ascended the stairs, the fatigue in our legs became more apparent, but our spirits grew more excited. Whenever we stopped to rest, we saw more believers and travelers, all working hard for their wishes. This resonance gave us an invisible strength, motivating us to keep going. After nearly an hour of effort, we finally reached the main hall of Kotohira-gu Shrine. Standing in front of the shrine, overlooking the beautiful view of Kotohira City, we felt an immense sense of accomplishment. At that moment, all the fatigue seemed to disappear, leaving only inner peace and joy. Inside the shrine, we participated in a simple prayer ceremony, silently making wishes for the future. Facing the magnificent architecture of the shrine, feeling the weight of history and the depth of culture, our souls were well cleansed. Strolling around the shrine, appreciating the surrounding natural scenery, our hearts were filled with gratitude. On the way back, we descended the endless stairs again. Although our legs were tired, this challenge made our spirits stronger. This trip to Kotohira-gu Shrine was not only a physical challenge but also a spiritual journey. This is a Japanese-style room with a bed at Hana Club. You can see the pool and Kotoden from the window. We had a kaiseki dinner and a buffet breakfast in the dining area. Kotohira shrine in Kagawa prefecture in Shikoku is a shrine dedicated to sailors and seafarers. It is situated at 521 m - halfway to the top of Mount Zozu. The journey starts from the Kotohira town where there is a row of souvenir shops and restaurants, and it will gradually go uphill with a long stretch of stairs. There is a large tori at the entrance of Kotohira- gu, while the two sides stood many stone pillars marking the “millions “ of yen contributed to the shrine over the years. There were many large and small shrines as we walked up the long flight of stairs, and we made our first stop at 477 steps where there were two beautiful white horses that werr 14 and 18 years old. There was also a cafe at 500 steps but it was already closed when we arrived. Our next stop was the Main Shrine at 785 steps. The view of the nearby towns and fields from there was quite spectacular! However as it was closed to 5pm we noticed the workers started to close some of the windows of the shrine. Just as we were about to start uphill again, we were told that the premise gate will close by 6pm, and we should start to go downhill. As much as we wanted to reach the top, we couldn’t make it this time. If you are planning to complete the whole journey uphill, I would recommend to start from 2 or 3 pm latest as there are many interesting things to see and photos to be taken. The view from KonpiraGuesthouse after climbing the 785 steps was even more beautiful. There were long nameplates next to the flat ground that appeared in the middle of the stairs. They are said to be the names of people who supported or helped when KonpiraGuesthouse was built. There was a really long line while climbing the stairs. The moss made it feel like something out of Spirited Away.

Walking up the mountain, the restaurant is on the far left side of Kotohira-gu Shrine. When you see the sign, go down the stairs next to it and you will reach the restaurant. The environment is comfortable and elegant. It is open from nine in the morning to five in the afternoon every day. (I thought my husband bought alcohol without telling me, but I found out in Korea that he bought it for me!!) Day3> Takamatsu was a 2 night 3 day trip.. I took a boat and went to Olive Park in the morning~~ I bought bread the day before and solved lunch at a convenience store.. (Takamatsu, which I regretted because I had to take a boat and a bus because of the time~ Check the bus schedule carefully) I want to go again.. When I went, the udon pass was sold out, so I want to go again. I left my carrier in Okayama and went to Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter On the way, I went to "Miso Katsu Umenoki", a famous Michelin restaurant🍛 The tonkatsu was really delicious!! I arrived late, so all the shops in Kurashiki were closed..ㅋㅋㅋㅋ I'll go again the next day. Day4> There were a lot of things to see in Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter, so I went around for a day.. I bought a bag while I was walking around ~ I got a business card saying that she made them herself.. They were unique as soon as I saw them, and each color was unique~ This place is famous for its peaches 🍑, so I bought some jam, and as a gift, I bought another Moomin collaboration (cute Moomin picture on the case outside)~ I bought an udon magnet, but I should have bought it in Takamatsu.. I just bought it at the 🐰Miffy character shop~ I also bought some sake.. I drank coffee again, but I can't remember the name of the store, but there are many places in Japan that have delicious coffee~ ☕️GjG Espresso - The coffee is really delicious!! 🍚🧈 Kamataya (Tofu Cuisine) It's run by an old couple, and everything is delicious! The tofu disguised as fish was a bit shocking~ I thought it was real fish.. ☕️ The Coffee House Daiku Honmachi - Have another cup of coffee before dinner.. I looked it up on Google and it was just okay.. There are too many pictures to upload, but in Okayama, the hotel is connected to the train station, so it was easy to get around. Since I mainly went around to tourist attractions and shopping, I thought it would be good to stay somewhere close, so I went to a place that was as easy to get to as possible when going home~ Before taking the tram to Okayama Castle (Crow Castle) & Korakuen, my husband found a Blue Ribbon Omelette restaurant... But the locals also order a lot of ramen.. It's a shame I couldn't eat ramen~ I waited in line and went in~ On the left side of the alley leading to this restaurant is a kitchen editing shop? (Lifestyle). The dishes are pretty, but restrained~ Because of the weight.. My husband might have bought a lot of alcohol!! Hahahaha~ And if you come down a little more, there's a bakery that's famous, so the locals were buying a lot of bread🥐.. I should've bought all the bread in the fridge It was so so delicious!! When you come out of the store, there's also a fruit shop where you can buy 🍊 tangerines for a cheaper price~ It's much cheaper than the mart. So I bought some on the way out after eating and went to Okayama Castle~~~ I happily walked after buying fruit👫👣 ☕️ Cafe Kitsune - This place only does takeout. I went to a roastery cafe on purpose, but there were no seats, so I took a break outside in a Benz... The coffee is delicious~ For the rest of my schedule, I went to Uniqlo & Muji, and Don Quijote at Aeon Mall~ Okayama is delicious, so I went to "Yakitori Mugen" twice for dinner 🍢 Everything was delicious without being greasy.. 🍻It was refreshing and delicious with beer👍🏻 The owner grilled it really well~~ I came back two days in a row because it was so delicious, so I don't think I got any service or tax.. I ate more than the first day, but I saw that the amount was calculated less~ Since you order through an app, the price can't be wrong!! They asked me when I was going to Korea.. The staff were all friendly~ It was a week-long trip, but I regret it~~ I want to go again 🍑I'll buy some alcohol and have a drink During this trip, the train was suddenly delayed and I had to wait for almost two hours.. When I went to eat Yamagoe Udon, the bus was so late ㅋㅋ It may go as planned, or it may change, but I felt the charm of wanting to go to other small Japanese cities during this trip~~ It was great!!😊
