Not inferior to Hongcun, but more niche, the largest ancient village of Ming and Qing Dynasties in my country
"Ten miles from Cha Village, nine miles of smoke, three streams converge to flow through thousands of households.
Under the shadows of temples, pavilions, and towers, there are small bridges, flowing water, and apricot blossoms. "
In the west of Jing County, Anhui Province, there is the largest existing ancient village from the Ming and Qing dynasties in my country: [Chaji].
National Key Cultural Heritage, China's Famous Historical and Cultural Village, China's No. 1 Sketching Village, List of Chinese Traditional Villages
These are still not enough to fully demonstrate the value of Chaji.
During its heyday, Chazhi had 108 bridges, 108 ancestral halls, and 108 temples.
There are 80 existing buildings from the Ming Dynasty and 109 from the Qing Dynasty. Among them, there are more than 40 bridges, 30 ancestral halls and 4 temples.
【history】
The Cha family originated from the Ji surname. During the Sui and Tang Dynasties, Cha Weiyin served as the governor of Xuan and Chi states. In the eighth year of Wude in the Tang Dynasty, he retired and lived in seclusion here. His descendants multiplied and formed a huge village.
The Cha family was a prominent family in Jing County and was known as "Cha Bantian".
During the Ming and Qing dynasties, the Cha family had 10 civil Jinshi and 4 military Jinshi, making it a family of both civil and military officials.
There are many branches of the Cha family. Once one of the branches becomes prosperous (by passing the imperial examination, becoming an official, being granted an imperial decree, getting rich, etc.), the descendants will build an ancestral hall to glorify the family and encourage future generations. Therefore, ancestral halls here are extremely prosperous.
【Li Bai's Poems】
After bidding farewell to Wang Lun at Taohuatan, Li Bai was invited by Cha Shimo (official secretary and proofreader) of Chaji to travel and live in Shimenbishan, Chaji, and wrote
"When asked why I live in the green mountains, I smile but do not answer, for my heart is at ease.
Peach blossoms and flowing water disappear into the distance, a world apart from the human world"
The author previously misattributed this poem to Bishan Village in Yi County. Now I would like to correct the mistake.

【Route Guide】
Chazhi is very large, and the best route is from the South Gate parking lot, across the God of Wealth Bridge, and walk all the way up along the Chazhi River to check in at these ancient buildings.
