Good Chinese food in Heusden-Zolder

China Garden Restaurant is a Chinese restaurant in Heusden Zolder, northeastern Belgium. When you are traveling for a long time and you get tired of Western food, Chinese food is an easy choice that is familiar to Asians like us. For this area of the city with only a few Chinese restaurants, this restaurant is one that we asked the locals and they recommended, so we decided to stop by. We ordered a Set Menu for 4 people, which included drinks, tea, and coffee. The food is as follows:
➡️ Kroepoek – It is white, crispy rice crackers served as a snack before the meal. The taste is exactly the same as at home. It is quite authentic.
➡️ Soup of Your Choice – Served in small cups, each person has their own style, like Westerners. There are 2 types to choose from: Chicken soup, which is a light clear soup that is easy to sip and has a fair amount of chicken, and thick Sichuan soup that is sour, salty, and sweet, not too spicy. Both are fun to eat.
➡️ Nasi met garnalen en vlees – The literal translation should be fried rice with shrimp and pork, but what I saw was fried with red pork, no shrimp. The taste is mild. You can eat it with rice instead of rice.
➡️ Gebraden Eend in Pruimensaus – Roast duck served with Plum Sauce. The duck is roasted well. The skin is a bit thick, but the outer skin is crispy. The meat is soft enough. As for the Plum Sauce, it must have been seasoned on the duck. There is no sauce poured over it or served on it like our roast duck. Although it is not like the roast duck we are familiar with, it is still delicious in a different way.
➡️ Chop-Shoy op Kantonese Wijze – It is stir-fried shrimp with bean sprouts. The shrimp are medium-sized. Stir-fried with authentic Chinese flavors. It is quite good.
➡️ Ribbetjes in Looksaus – It is Ribs in Garlic Sauce. Large pork ribs topped with garlic sauce. The level of softness is still something to chew, but not tough or tough. It's really delicious.
➡️ Gepaneerde Scampi's met Zoetzure Saus – It's fried shrimp served with a thick, sweet and sour orange sauce. It looks like chili sauce but it's not spicy. This dish is actually coated with a normal batter like goki flour, not crispy fried breadcrumbs like the Japanese Ebi Fry.
➡️ Runderlapjes met Ananas – It's beef stir-fried with pineapple, onions and carrots. It uses good quality beef, cut into thick, large pieces, marinated until soft. It's really good.
