Situated on the banks of the Xiang River and built into the cliffside, its location is simply divine 🤩. Due to the unique terrain, the temple buildings are arranged in a serpentine fashion, stretching from south to north. The main halls, including the Mahavira Hall, Arhat Hall, Medicine Master Hall, God of Wealth Hall, and Ten Thousand Buddhas Hall, are lined up in sequence. With the Xiang River flowing to the east and Mount Jiushi rising to the west, the various halls are connected by winding stone steps. Nestled between the river and the mountain, the temple exudes a sense of grandeur and awe, inspiring reverence in an instant 😲. Kongling Temple boasts a rich history, with its origins tracing back to the Southern Liang Dynasty. However, the temple we see today was reconstructed in 1987. The cliff carvings here are a major highlight, featuring precious inscriptions left by ancient people as well as works by contemporary masters like Shen Peng. Many of the couplets and plaques are also created by renowned artists such as Zhao Puchu, Zhou Zhaoyi, Li Li, and Yan Jialong. The temple is steeped in culture, with every corner worth savoring 🎨.
