Zhangzhou Ancient City

Zhangzhou Ancient City, a place brimming with historical charm, truly captivated me! While many places boast ancient towns and streets, I've never seen anything quite like Zhangzhou Ancient City, where commerce and daily life are so perfectly integrated. The red two-story buildings here bear the marks of time; watch repair shops, barbershops, clothing stores, bicycle shops, etc., are mostly run by elderly people, giving it a 1990s feel. Meanwhile, coffee shops, murder mystery game arcades, snack shops, and pottery workshops bring a modern vibe, each shop unique and distinct. As for attractions, the Confucian Temple, Zhongshan Park, and the Ancient City Memory Museum are must-sees. However, the most beautiful scenery is often found unexpectedly—like a family of dogs sunbathing on the steps, uncles and aunties chatting over tea in front of their homes, a parrot by the window, a doll on a chair, a lotus flower in a water tank… Take your time to stroll and stop; everywhere you look is a touch of childlike wonder.
