The Baroque church of Our Lady of Pilar

Spanish Pyrenees Hike ~ Zaragoza (Region) A jewel of Baroque art. Built between the 17th and 18th centuries. Inside is the Sacred Chapel, the work of Ventura Rodríguez, which houses a statue of Our Lady of Pilar. Also interesting are the high altarpiece and the Renaissance choir stalls made of alabaster. The cathedral was declared a national monument. Basilica del Pilar is one of the most important spiritual sites in Spain, along with the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. It is also a first-class art center, housing precious cultural relics from different periods.
