Weekend Outing with Kids | Half-Day Tour of Nanxi River to See a Pond Full of Koi

Primary and secondary schools have autumn holidays for long-distance trips, while kindergartens can do a short half-day trip nearby on weekends. 🗺️ Half-Day Tour Route 👉🏻 Taogong Cave ➡️ Release Pond ➡️ Huakai Maibing ➡️ Furong Ancient Street ➡️ Lishui Ancient Street We had lunch and then set off from Oubei. There was plenty of time to visit these spots in half a day. 1️⃣ Taogong Cave: 10 RMB/person (free for children under 1.2 meters) 🅿️ Navigation: Taogong Cave (After arriving at the destination, drive further inside to find a free parking lot. The space is not very large, so be mindful of the number of cars on weekends.) 2️⃣ Release Pond (Free) ✅ Right opposite Taogong Cave, it is said there are over 20,000 koi in the pond (really a lot). Many elderly ladies sell fish feed by the roadside (don’t be shy, you can bargain). ✅ Tossing some fish food will attract many 🐟 swimming over to eat, making it a great spot for photos. However, on weekends, many people gather to feed the fish, so it’s harder to get good shots. Also, overfeeding causes the water surface to smell a bit, so be prepared to tolerate the odor when taking pictures. 3️⃣ Huakai Maibing House ✅ Located next to Taogong Cave, this is a trendy coffee shop specializing in maibing (wheat cakes) and coffee. After feeding the fish, you can come here to rest. ✅ A few more coffee and snack shops are nearby, with decor perfect for photos. 4️⃣ Furong Ancient Village (Free) 🅿️ Navigation: Furong Ancient Street ✅ The village buildings mainly feature plain wood and stone, white walls and black tiles, arranged at different heights with a strong historical charm. Any casual photo here has a great atmosphere. ✅ It’s autumn now, and walking through the village you’ll see persimmon trees full of fruit hanging everywhere. Combined with the staggered eaves, it’s truly beautiful and poetic. 5️⃣ Lishui Ancient Street (15 RMB/person, free after 5:00 PM) ✅ Not far from Furong Ancient Village, about a 10-minute walk. At the entrance, people usually stop visitors to charge an entrance fee. We arrived around 4:30 PM and didn’t want to pay, so we followed an online tip and entered for free through a small alley 👏🏻. ✅ The corridor in the attraction isn’t very long; it takes about half an hour to walk through. It’s a nice place to stroll leisurely, admire ancient architecture, and take great photos. However, kids might not enjoy it much as there’s not much to play with. If you want to take your kids out for a stroll on the weekend but can’t find a good spot, these places are perfect for a relaxed and pleasant outing!
