🌳 Yingkou Lengyan Temple, one of the four great Zen forests of Buddhism in Northeast China Lengyan Zen Temple is one of the more complete large-scale temple complexes from the Republic of China period that still exists in the Northeast. 🌸 It is known as one of the four great Zen forests of the Northeast, along with Harbin's Jile Temple, Changchun's Prajna Temple, and Shenyang's Ci'en Temple. 🌲 The founding master of Lengyan Temple, Master Tanxu, started the construction of Lengyan Temple in 1922, and it was completed and consecrated in 1931. 🌷 At that time, the plaque 'Lengyan Zen Temple' was written by Zheng Xiaoxu, the teacher of Aisin-Gioro Puyi. 🏵️ Master Tan spent his life building nine temples and founding thirteen Buddhist colleges. In 1949, he went to Hong Kong to establish the South China Buddhist College, built the Zhan Mountain Temple in Hong Kong, the Chinese Buddhist Library, etc., becoming the founder of the Buddhist cause in Hong Kong and one of the three elders of the Hong Kong Buddhist community. 🌻 He passed away on August 11, 1933, at the age of 89. 🎍 Upon entering the mountain gate, the first courtyard is faced with the Hall of Heavenly Kings, where statues of the Four Heavenly Kings are enshrined on both sides, and in the center, a camphor wood statue of Maitreya Buddha, with a painting of Bodhisattva Wei Tuo hanging behind it. ☘️ On the left and right sides of the courtyard are the bell tower and drum tower, located to the east and west, respectively. 🌸 The second courtyard houses the Mahavira Hall, the main hall where people offer incense and worship Buddha, located at the center of the temple. 🌿 Inside the Mahavira Hall sit three Buddha statues, with Shakyamuni in the center, Medicine Buddha to the left, and Amitabha Buddha to the right. 🍃 Statues of the Eighteen Arhats are arranged on both sides of the hall. To the east side of the hall, there is a side hall with a statue of the holy deity Guan Yu.
