Yangzong Lake Travel Guide: Transportation • By car: From Kunming, take the Kunming–Shilin Expressway (G78 Kunming–Shantou Expressway) and exit at Songmao. Then, choose your route based on your specific destination. • Public transportation: • From Kunming: Take a bus to Tangchi from the East Bus Station and get off at OCT Hot Spring Water Park. • From Chenggong: Take a bus to Tangchi from Chenggong New Bus Hub and get off at OCT Hot Spring Water Park. Must-see attractions • Minghu Wetland Park: Colorful boats and Yunnan's own "Fisherman's Wharf" make for a perfect photo backdrop. • S-Bay: Walk straight from Minghu Wetland Park, keeping to the side closer to the lake at intersections. You'll reach S-Bay after passing through a tunnel. • Liushu Bay: A great place for kids, with grassy areas and shallow beaches. • Waterfront Wetland Park: Large free grasslands and stunning snapdragon flowers in full bloom. • Shijiazui: Navigate to Fuli Bay, walk down the small path on the left for about 200 meters. You can capture photos of factory chimneys across the lake, small boats, the beach, and atmospheric trees. • Hujiazhuang: Colorful houses and a small lakeside desert. Unique experiences • Hot springs: The Tangchi Hot Spring Town on the north bank of Yangzong Lake has been famous for its hot springs since ancient times, most of which are natural sulfur springs. There are high-end hot spring resorts such as the Yunnan OCT Hot Spring Water Park and the Park Lane Resort & Spa, as well as affordable hot springs along Tangchi Street. • Fruit picking: • Strawberry picking: Strawberry farms are located in Huangni Village, Caodian Township, on the east bank of Yangzong Lake. The picking season is from January to March. • Cherry picking: In early April every year, over 4,000 acres of cherries ripen in Malang Village, Qidian Township, on the southwest bank of Yangzong Lake. The picking season lasts for over 50 days. • Waxberry picking: Mid-to-late May is the ripening season for waxberries throughout Yunnan. There are over 1,200 acres of waxberry farms in Caodian Township on the east bank of Yangzong Lake. • Water activities: Yangzong Lake Resort offers over 40 sports activities, including a water park, parasailing, a beach, jet skis, speedboats, and shooting ranges. It is currently the largest and most diverse water sports center in Southwest China. Food recommendations • Farmhouse cuisine: There are various restaurants along Yangzong Lake. We recommend trying the pepper chicken, lake fish, cured meat, bacon, dried beef, free-range chicken, and various seasonal vegetables. • Tangchi Old Sauce: This is one of Yangzong Lake's most geographically iconic delicacies and a nostalgic taste for Kunming locals. It can be used for stewing fish, making braised chicken, and more. Accommodation recommendations • Yunnan OCT: Located on the north bank of Yangzong Lake, it features over 60 hillside landscape pools and is the largest hot spring water park in Southwest China, with a Greek theme. • Lakeside Mountain & Sea Resort: A great place for hillside seaside relaxation and leisure vacations, with beautiful cherry blossoms. • Spring City Lakeside Resort: Home to two international standard 18-hole championship golf courses, rated as the best golf courses in China by Asian Golf Monthly and Golf Magazine.
