I declare this to be the most cost-effective hotel in Xiamen.

Xiamen Shangri-La Hotel Our room is a sea view room on the executive floor. The room layout is rather cramped, the toilet is a bit crowded, and the toilet is a Toto fully automatic. Due to the small space, if someone is using the wash basin, the toilet lid will keep opening and closing, which is a bit funny. A large fruit plate and pastries were given, including grapes, lychees, peaches, etc., which were very nice. A special sweet soup was also given when we made our first turn down, but it was very sweet and not tasty. We stayed for 3 nights and then nothing for the next few days. The gym is pretty good, with complete equipment and a lot of space. The swimming pool has four lanes but is usually crowded. There is a steam room and hot tub in the women's locker room. There were two stone reclining chairs but both had issues, they would not heat up. The hygiene conditions are not ideal. I swim every night and find towels and other debris left by guests in the hot tub. It is unclear how often the water is changed and cleaned. The sanitary conditions of the public areas in the lobby are worrisome. According to my husband, the men's restroom is full of cigarette butts and dirty things, making it almost unusable. The Deluxe Room is on the fourth floor and has a large sea view terrace where you can sit. If it weren't so hot right now, it would be a beautiful place. The food and beverage at the Horizon Club is very limited, with only fruits and two types of pastries in the afternoon. Happy hour in the evening is from 17:30 to 19:30, with a small buffet. There are usually three types of cold cuts, including vegetable salad, cheese, smoked fish, and occasionally smoked salmon. There are usually five hot dishes, three of which are the same every day, namely butter vegetables (super unpalatable, tasteless), spiced rolls (very greasy and without water chestnuts), and pasta. These three dishes were exactly the same every day during our three-day stay! The other two items are meat, such as curry pork, Orleans chicken, etc. They are all cheap and filling, with no quality at all. There is also white porridge with pickled vegetables, three kinds of steamed food, corn, steamed buns, meat dumplings or siomai, which are all common breakfast items. There are quite a lot of fruits, including watermelon, cantaloupe, mango, and lychee. The desserts are brought up from the buffet downstairs and are the highlight of the entire buffet. They are quite delicious, but they are almost the same every day. I feel the kitchen is very perfunctory and there are no real dishes to speak of. The service at the Horizon Club is excellent. Every employee is very responsible and has a very good service attitude. Susan is smart and studious. She likes to learn how to make cocktails and the cocktails she makes are very good. Ms. Zhang Mei at breakfast was smart and clever, her service was proactive and enthusiastic, and she spared no effort to meet the needs of the guests, which added a lot to our hotel experience. She is definitely a valuable asset of the hotel!
