XIAN | DAXINGSHAN TEMPLE

#discoverchina Daxingshan Temple (大兴善寺) is a historic Buddhist temple situated in Yanta District of Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, originally founded in 266 CE by Emperor Wu of the Western Jin dynasty, making it one of China’s oldest temples . It rose to prominence during the Tang dynasty (618–907 CE) as the cradle of Chinese Esoteric (Vajrayana) Buddhism, where masters Śubhakarasiṃha, Vajrabodhi, and Amoghavajra taught and translated key sutras .
